Help Why do you have to swipe\unlock the phone...

Always wondered why Android has this option. Why does Android require you to swipe\unlock the phone everytime you turn the screen back on? It seems to serve no purpose and can get to be a pain in the butt sometimes. I could understand it if it was for security reasons, but anyone can swipe to unlock my phone so it can't be a security thing.

Anyone ever read or know why Android has to be that way? Or why Google has never removed this?

Just kind of curious....

If you don't want to do that you can download an app call no lock. Also I think the reason for this is if your phone turns on in your pocket it, it will have less chance of unlocking..

you can also turn on pattern lock

settings>location and security settings>set unlock pattern

It's so you don't accidentally dial or text, etc. with the phone in your pocket. I like the feature, personally. It's tedious sometimes if I stop typing to think about what I want to say for too long, and then it locks... but I'm ok with dealing with that.

I don't mind having to swipe 99% of the time, but when i'm using my phone as a golf GPS, swiping gets kind of annoying. The No Lock app is perfect for those times because I can set it to unlock while i'm golfing and turn it off when i'm done.
