caller id picture too small and lo res.. why?

on the Droid X, the caller id which is synced from my Facebook or Google account is very lo quality and small in size/dimensions. is there not a setting to show high res quality and to make it appear larger on the screen?

i just switched from the Evo and know that it was a similar issue on there. just curious if there is a known work around for the Droid X.

other than that, i am very happy with this phone so far. the build quality is much much better than the Evo's.

I am having the same issue. I just started using the People Widget from LauncherPro Plus which shows my contacts on the home screen with a slightly larger photo then what is in my contacts. The widget seems to enlarge the tiny images from contacts at the cost of the resolution. It looks terrible. Same thing happens with out going or incoming calls.

I have seen screen shots of other peoples Xs that aren't doing this.

Can you tell me, did you add the pics to your contacts, or are they from facebook, or other peoples google accounts? I ask because I have two contacts that have photos that came from their google accounts, not from photos that I have added to my contacts. Those two seem to look fine.

i believe this is resolved in the froyo release. i am rooted and running froyo and my contact pictures are even more clear then they were on my droid running froyo.

i have only setup my google account and facebook account. once they were configured, it said all contacts pictures would be overwritten with facebook. perfectly fine with me. i had not set anyones pictures yet. but i would think it is downloading a file from the users facebook account into a smaller, lo res size and quality to save bandwith on Verizon's network. but there should be an option to let it download in high quality or whatever.. i see nothing and when someone calls, unless it is a faceshot taken up close, the picture is practically pointless to show due to the quality..

i think you can just go to the contact, then edit and choose their picture from you gallery on the phone. not too sure what prompts it will give you and if Facebook will eventually overwrite it or not..give it a shot and let us know

I tried that, it says "saving changes" but as soon as you go back to contacts it's still Tue Facebook pic.

maybe there is a setting within Facebook to sync contacts always that you need to turn off? of course, every picture is now replaced with nothing and you have a blank caller id..

but i think i know why the quality is so bad.. if you scroll through your contacts for your phone, and facebook is syncing them, the quality is fine. the small picture next to your name and number, etc.. but when they call, that small picture that looks fine, being that small of course, is now expanded to the caller id size and is unreadable..

this is a flaw in the facebook and gmail sync. someone else said it was fixed in Froyo so i am not that upset about it.

trying using the app SyncMyPix. Go to settings and at the bottom check Maximum Quality.
