If thats the case ,I wont be switching to Evo.

Funny, I just tested my bandwidth and my upload is faster than my download at the moment. It's 413 d/l and 436 u/l. Go figure.

No apparent caps on my Evo right now (in WA) ... happily getting 4x better upload than my Epic ever saw ... and that's on ONE bar of signal.

Of course the battery life is comically poor, and the damn thing keeps launching apps that I'll NEVER EVER use.

Fairly sure, at this point, that ... one way or another ... there's not a non-half-assed Android device available for sale at all at the moment. Either the hardware is broken, the software is pooched, or everything works and the battery life is so poor as to be functionally unusable.

Bloody glad I don't have to rely on this stuff for anything other than a development test-bed.

You're talking about the official Sprint forum aren't you? If so, I count exactly one Evo user (named resdog) asking a very tentative question about whether his upload has been capped. It's post 305 on page 21 of the "3G Upload Capped?" thread.

I happen to have read and reread that entire thread from its inception on, but if I've missed anything, please feel free to point it out.

In the meantime, be careful not to spread misinformation. It isn't helpful diagnostically.

The EVO is not capped. The EVO is fine. If 3G upload speeds are enough to deter you from a phone, DO NOT worry about the EVO. Its 3G upload speeds are rather.... speedy

But 305 recanted his post today saying hes now getting normal uploads,.
The second guy 345 is commenting on his friends Evo.Not first hand info.
So disregard the Evo cap post I made.

If that's the case, then the problem is not with Samsung, but Sprint.
The question is, is it intentional or not? After talking to tier two tech support today, they say they're aware of the problem, and they're trying to fix it. For what ever that is worth.

I only have 10 days to tradein for an Evo.
If tech support is actually going to fix this ,I want to keep this phone.
If its a nonrepairable hardware issue Id love to know that before my 30 days are up.But I suppose that would be covered in the Samsung warranty.
For 1 year ,I should be able to return my defective phone for a working phone from the next batch .
Does that sound reasonable and realistic?

Those are bogus or erroneous testing posts, as I suspect are the ones claiming higher up speeds on Epic.

I have one Evo and three Epics and the test the side by side several times a day. I consistently get 300 to 500 up on my evo and never get above 150 on my Epics. Before and after update, with and without prl hacks. I am not just using speed test but half a dozen other methods.

Mojomojo: Sadly, realistic and reasonable are two different things. Most of what's in our contracts is worded to be quietly unreasonable.

But perhaps some veteran Sprint user who's reading this can suggest a third course of action besides returning your Epic or keeping it and risking being stuck with bad service.

Re the unreliability of the Epic's 3G service as compared to 4G (where available):

The idea (even if arrived at by accident) might be an absence of backward compatibility.

Picture, if you will, this scenario:

Upon hearing of the Epic's hardware issues, the Sprint Overlord sets down his sparkly wand and removes his robe and mitre to give himself room to gesticulate.

Sprint Overlord: Sometime soon [the Sprint Overlord schemes while cackling to Ukrainian exorcism music], the 4G network will be as pervasive as 3G. But before that happens, I don't want anyone with a 4G phone to even think about dropping their $10 fee (or whatever I deign to charge)! That's right: I want our indentured phone slaves ready, eager and utterly unable to choose the option to downgrade their service to 3G! Even if they complain to the Government of the Yew-Knighted States and raise a god-damned ruckus, they'll find it as impossible to use a 3G network as it would be for them to sire goat grandkids with Old Flapsy in the back of the cathouse for quadrupeds!

No sir, our customers will be exactly where I want 'em -- grateful to pay that extra $10 and have any kind of service at all during the two years when I'm holding their social microcosms and life support systems for ransom: all telecommunicative contact with friends, loved ones, business contacts, Triple A, the police and ambulances beholden to the gapped scaffolding of our future 4G empire! All contingent upon my whims and the reliability of a provisional network! All doomed to outages and interruptions on a daily, nay, hourly basis! Oh, evil is s-o-o-o-o delicious!

Of course, it's more likely that there isn't in fact a Sprint Overlord at all and this is simply bureaucracy, neglect and the matter-eating hole we call customer service all folding in upon one another to create Coverage of the Damned for those who insist on continuing to own Epics (quite possibly including me) -- even as they themselves are owned.

But that isn't what I read in post number 300858-A on page 3107 of the 3G Upload Cap thread.

Explain the Fee Mojo i think there argument of your phone being defective is mute. I think Sprint would wiggle its way out of it saying it cannot guarantee how fast an upload is because they are to many variables , as long as it connects your good to go.. Terrible i know. Sprint is already blaming the speedtest app and denies theres anything wrong with the phone. Same goes for the gps.
