Netflix or Blockbuster app coming?

There is a Netflix one on the market. Its called PhoneFlicks. I don't think it's officially from Netflix though.

No clue about Blockbuster.
 
I've been waiting for this too - I need a netflix or blockbuster streaming App - this is the only thing missing from my phone.
 
I can't believe there is no one willing to take my money to buy/rent downloaded movies. Netflix/Hulu are ok options, don't really offer much my slingbox doesn't. I really want a way to download movies to watch in planes and through video out in hotels/beach houses/etc. If not blockbuster, then is anyone looking at this market in the Android space? Hopefully Google comes through with something soon.

Renting/buying dvds and ripping them is way to inconvenient. Why let pirating get a foothold by being first to market here?
 
Agreed.. a fully functional netflix app is like the 1 thing I wish I could do on my phone that I can't.

As someone mentioned though, for add/removing movies and arranging your queue, flixter does a pretty decent job. And you can check showtimes and trailers for nearby theaters as well as DVDs.

And this is negative why? They filed Chapter 11, which means that they will continue to operate and should be in a considerably more competative position when all is said and done.

Chapter 11, which is considerably different than Chapter 7. They're not liquidating. On the contrary, this allows companies to better organize and emerge in a more competative position.
 
And companies that continue to close up shop usually file for ch. 11 because they can't keep them open because people aren't going to their stores anymore. If my company would file for ch 11 my ass would pucker. Restructuring or not what do you think they are restructuring towards. Blockbuster "Red Box's" at gas stations and four dollar movies through their app. Sorry but they have already been way surpassed on that front. Sometimes company's loose vision and fall way behind, to late to dig out of the hole. The only way I see their restructuring is by selling what's left of the company.

Well an Android movie store is a pretty untapped market at this point. $4 for a new release movie does not seem out of line compared to what is out there now. $6-8 for Cable/Fios On demand. Red Box/Netflix already get their movies 30 days late. I bet they are 6 months late in a year or 2, and offer them in the same window as streaming.

Blockbuster and netflix apps would compliment each other nicely. One for new releases, and one for catalogs.

That and they wanted their franchise stores to bend over and take it in the rear. You know when they did the exchange your mail in video at the stores they didn't give the stores any credit? So yeah some nights the stores only did exchange business and made no money. Gee do I want a blockbuster app that I have to subscribe for service? Nah, they don't deserve it.
 
You all do know Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy this week? So, I wouldn't trust any services from them, let alone support for an app, anytime soon until they come out of it as a smaller company.
The sooner the retail industry accepts the idea that brick and mortar stores are no longer necessary, the soon we will get better apps to get products to us.
I would be happy with a RedBox app that gave me locations, movies available at a location, and reservations.

I actually have a free one that's just called Redbox. I just looked in the market and for some reason it isn't there anymore. I downloaded a while back. But it legit does everything that the guy asked for above. I could log in to my account, reserve movies instantaneously, and it used GPS to search for nearby redboxes and stuff. It's actually a really handy app.
 
I'd obviously LOVE to see a streaming video app from Netflix just like everyone else! But for the time being, if you just want to manage your queue, Flixter ain't bad. Plus it does a few other neat things as well.
