customization help

i was looking at the thread "share how you use your screens" and i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to customize my phone. I liked the phone/app/widget buttons that similar to the sense ones but flat instead of rounded and see through, custom screenlocks, and unique icons that some people have. My phone is rooted, are these customizations from roms or from apps in the market?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Different roms will have different customizations. AOSP roms like CM6 are pretty much vanilla android, you will have to find and download different things to fill your needs. If you like the Sense UI, those roms will more likely have HTC sense widgets in the rom.

What are you on now?

I was just wondering about the ruu for returning back to stock just in case the phone has issues, this is my second refurb, so ive had some bad luck with faulty hero's.

That's why the forums are here, to help;)

You are rooted, you have the power to do whatever you want with the phone:D

Any questions or problems? Ask away, I'm sure somebody will have an answer:)

Just do a Nandroid backup before you flash a new ROM and you can easily return to your stock setup with that. That is always the recommended course of action after rooting your handset and installing the recovery image.

If all else fails, yes, you can reflash the stock Android 2.1 RUU. You will lose your root, but you will be back to factory specification.

You should be able to install it through ROM Manager. You can also boot into recovery by holding volume down button and pressing the power button.

Of course, you would need to download the actual ROM first and put it on your microSD card. Once you are in recovery there are options to flash the ROM, but first you will want to do a wipe of everything and then you can flash it.
