Offered Droid Incredible + $200 for my Droid X

Offered Droid Incredible + $200 for my Droid X

What do you guys think? Are you really happy with your phones? I really miss flashing custom roms, so I'm thinking about making the trade.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, and TRY to be unbiased :) Just cuz u own the phone does not mean its the best (ie, no fanboyism comments please) I've had several Android devices and I wouldn't say that any of them were the "best", including this Droid X.

I just want honest opinions about build quality, speed, ease of use, the custom rom scene, overclocking, etc..

Any input would be great guys, and I thank you very much.

Mods: If possible, Please keep this in the root section as that is what I'm truly most interested in and people are more likely to see it here. Thank you.

I assume the Incredible is in topnotch shape? The Droid X is a great phone but by any standard I think an Incredible + $200 for an X is a good deal. This is even more so if you are wanting to do custom roms. I love the incredible and think it is best thing since sliced bread but I will also be very honest and tell you that it is both my first and only android phone.

The build quality on the incredible is generally good but the X probably has a more "solid feel."

The Incredible is fast, and more so with certain custom roms and a little overclocking. It will not overclock as much as the old Droid 1 would, but it is fast enough that it really doesn't need a lot of overclocking. In fact, I don't overclock at all because I just simply don't see a need. Some do though just because they can. Not all incredible overclock the same; some get higher mhz's than others.

The are quite a few custom roms available and they range from everything to highly experimental to really stable, so pick your poison. The roms that are available generally fall into one of three classes: Those with the Sense UI, Those with most of the Sense UI stuff removed but with some underlying framework still in place, and those built on straight vanilla android.

We are now starting to see roms making early appearances with really big UI changeups (MUIU) that resemble something of a hybrid android/iphone experience. We are also in the early stages of seeing roms developed with the New Sense UI just now being released by htc which have a number of additional capabilities and features over the old Sense UI we have all known and loved (well, some do).
Hope this gives you enough "lay of the land" to help some.

I would take that offer in a heart beat. I will speak honestly here though, I own an Incredible, but I have referred to it as the Incrapible so I won't be bias. I owned an Eris previously. And that was my first phone, I read bout rooting for a month before doing it. Since rooting I became obsessed man. I have only felt the Droid X at the Verizon store, along with the Droid2, only the Incredible I have really used. I'm not sure what you paid for your X or anything like that. But the Incredible really is a good phone. I personally love HTC Sense so I could be bias in that Sense(ha). The Incredible was a little small of a community when I came here but it has grown very nicely and is producing some great stuff from some very generous and creative people. I'd take a good look into this, sounds like a pretty decent deal if the Incredible is in nice shape.. not to mention you can always get a refrub which are solid AND the new red or white back doors are just sexy as hell.

I'm offered $100 + DX for Dinc, what's ya opinions?

One of my opinions is that threadjacking is not a good thing to do....

If you want a larger screen and full root is not important, go for it. I personally got an android phone for the capabilities of full root (the pure customization potential is phenomenal), so I would never do it. If that is not important to you, go for it.

To the OP, I would do it. Just economically it is a very good decision for you. On top of that, I think the DINC is better than the X on every count except for screen size (not quality) and battery life (maybe reception). It is fully rootable, and to me that is why I have an andorid phone (see above...).

Nkk,

It's not threadjacking. If I were to create a new thread, I would be slated.

While I disagree (I think that the OP created this thread for issue and discussion of his issue...he does not care about your issue), I see your point and can respect that they are very similar topics and may be better off in the same thread.

Also, whatever I said for him goes for your situation, too. It is a good economic decision (phones are about equivalent after you take personal preference out, so a sideways trade + $100 is good).
