Just wondering if there were any apps or configuration changes that could be made to turn the Moment into a mobile 3g WAP. I have already enabled tethering on my phone, however I'm looking to use its built in wifi as a mobile hotspot to broadcast. All of my searches have come up negative.

I had an old phone that I was able to do this for (before 3g) and sure the speeds with nothing spectacular, but now with 3g speeds, I see a huge use for this.

The selling point for becoming a new Sprint-moment customer, is to gain internet access for my laptop computer. I informed the sales rep that I need internet access via the Sprint Samsung moment and I would also gain a new cell phone.

I have not been able to link the laptop to the samsung-moment. Can someone guide me thru this process ?

Thanks

if you don't want to root your phone, there's an app called pdanet, it's on the market, and there's a free and paid version. the free version is limited and won't allow you to log on to https(secure) sites, so no access to email, or even facebook. but basically, after downloading it, you plug your phone into your computer via usb. open the app, and it will tell you it needs to download the drivers for your comp. follow those steps, install the drivers, open the app on your phone, and then the program on your comp, and you should be good to go. fair warning though, sometimes the phone's data will lock up when using this program. oh, and you must have usb debugging on when using this program.

if you want to do it wireless, the best way to do it is with an app called m900 wireless tether, which i beleive you can get from the market. but, you have to be rooted in order to use it. if you go to the "all things root" section of the forum then there are several very easy to follow instructional vids on how to achieve root. here's actually a link to a simple step by step:

hope that helps

I had the same problem with my pc after rooting. All you do is go under your network connections on your laptop and set it to connect to any reliable source. That should fix the problem. (This is all with the stipulation that your laptop is able to recognize the connection, just wont connect to it)

Also you can get Easy-Tether app from the market. In my opinion better than PDA Net and does not require root. I used this for the past 6 months prior to rooting last week with little to no complaints.

I've been able to get to https sites if you click on the buy full version on your laptop and pretend like your buying it. Then you can get to any https site you wish by opening another IE window.

So, if I use either the data cable method or the wireless method to connect my laptop to the phone and go through the phone to the Internet, then how fast will my access be?
I want to access my computer at the other end of a BizACT Fast DSL connection, which has speeds of about 6Mbps, and so no problems with speed there.

Currently I am running the wireless tether with 54mbps on my home pc. Was running 10mbps with easy tether(data cable). Hope this helps.
