Or is it only compatible with some apps?

I am seriously thinking about upgrading to the Evo. But, it seems like all the apps for virtually every major brand advertised is advertised as an "iPhone app". But, since the Evo costs the same as the iPhone and I'm already a Sprint customer, my attitude is 'why change'. But, I want to know if it can do most everything the iPhone can. So, which is a shorter list, what is compatible or what is not compatible? And, if anyone out there can name the items on that shorter list, I would love to read them so I know.. Thanks..:)

No iPhone app is compatible with an EVO or Android device app. What apps are deal breakers for you? There are a ton of apps for almost anything you would really need on the EVO, some that the iPhone doesn't have. What did you need or what were you worried that you wouldn't be able to get?

There definitely isn't a shortage of apps for the EVO if thats what you are worried about.

Ok, Off the top of my head, one app I can name is the World of Warcraft armory app. Which, I have notice is also available for Blackberry as well. Right now, it's only the only one I can name off the top of my head. But, I seem to recall watching certain shows on TV that have advertised apps for show updates and/or phone gear apps. Again, all name brand or big named products or shows and all usually advertised as "iPhone" apps. I don't know if these apps matter or not. Just wondered if I saw one I really liked being advertised, would the Evo be able to use it. Let's say "Real Time with Bill Maher" has an app for the iPhone to get cool backgrounds and updates or "The Simpsons" has a game app or the bank I use has an app I want. Once more, all advertised as iPhone apps. Would they be usable on the Evo? Some people are saying the Evo has more apps then the iPhone. But, is more apps inclusive of name brand and big name apps?

Iphone apps will NOT run on android. No Exceptions.

As said above, there are however Android apps that will do most of the things you can do with an Iphone app. That is why everyone wants to know specific apps you are looking for.

Think of it like this:

You have a Mac. There are tons of software and games that you like to use. None of them will work on the PC. BUT there are usually PC versions of the same programs that will work on the PC.

The beginning and end of the significant app market differences... Netflix. Everything else is a sub-issue:p
Though there's a few other threads dedicated to that around here.

Good point actually. That is another one... I have Netflix and would like to be able to have a phone capable of applying the Netflix app... Not that it is the most important feature for a phone to have, but I was having a hard time naming apps in trying to find out if they were or were not compatible with the Evo.

People always ask me, "which apps do you want?". Well, I really can never remember them all. So, the better response to my question, rather then asking a question with a question as many people do, is to simply name the ones I couldn't use or the ones I could. Whichever is a shorter list in relation to the apps that you see being offered by banks, restaurants, movie stores and online film memberships (Netflix), TV shows and/or channels, and so on.

It seems everything has an app for the iPhone as if Apple and AT&T have cornered the market for big name products and services. Yet, people have told me that the Evo can do this and that and is as good or better then the iPhone. Which is why I started this thread. I want the list of what the Evo can do. Or can't. Whichever is the shorter list...........

WoW armory is available for Android. Seriously not being able to find an app to do something you could do on an iPhone should not be a concern. Also if you just want to browse available apps go here http://www.appbrain.com/
