Droid X or the Samsung Fascinate? HELP

I'm having a hard time deciding on the Droid X or the Samsung Fascinate. So I thought I would put the question out there to see what people think.

Features of interest:
GPS
Accessories - For example, I'm not seeing a whole of of accessories for the Fascinate like a solid Car Dock. The X seems to have a slick one.
I want to use Google not Bing, can this be easily disabled on the Facinate?
Can I install Google Maps on the Facinate and if so, will it be an issue having both Bing & Gmaps installed together?

I stand corrected about accessories. After vieweing Verizons website, they have a pretty slick car mount for the Facinate. I'm beginning to lean more toward that phone and I'll just customize to my liking.

imo you can't go wrong with either phone. No, there wouldn't be a problem using Google Maps on the Fascinate. My preference for the Droid X is due to having the multimedia charging dock, so my phone charges and is my alarm clock/night light, it's nice to have it standing up so I can see it, and not just laying on my nightstand... but yeah, both great phones, Fascinate's screen is very nice, and I've heard the accelerometer makes for some excellent gaming.

The best thing to do would be to venture into the forums for both of the phones on this site. As a person who was on the fence between these 2 phones for a while, I'll give you my take on them.

The DX:
- has a slightly larger footprint yet noticeably larger screen real estate (decide in store which feels better)
- has google as its main search and uses google maps straight out of the box
- reception and call quality are better than any other vzw phone. 3 mics do great with eliminating most background noise
- now ships with froyo 2.2
- gps works great
- has more available accessories due to being on the market longer

The SF:
- uses a SAMOLED screen vs. the DX's LCD screen. the SAMOLED screen has vibrant colorization whereas the DX is pretty close to natural colorization. it's a preference thing. however, LCD screens do provide crisper text IF you have good eyesight to even notice the difference
- has bing as its main search and uses bing maps straight out of the box (requires some work to change this, and the best method is rooting the phone)
- some areas the phone gets much worse reception than the DX, other places it gets marginally worse reception or in par with the DX. numbers don't mean much if you can still make calls just fine, though. however, it's become a gamble whether you get a phone that doesn't sound like crap either with hearing yourself or the person on the other end saying you sound like crap
- ships with 2.1, but 2.2 should roll out in the next month or 2
- like call quality, the gps is a gamble as to how well yours will work. for some it works great, others it takes quite a while to get a satellite lock, and others the gps is near useless. it's something Samsung knows about and will be fixing in the next month or two

beyond those basics, it also depends if you'll be intending to root the phone, and even then how much you're willing to do with customization. the DX has a locked bootloader that keeps us from running custom kernels, but beyond that the 2 phones can do about the same with themes, removing bloat software from verizon, and doing overclocks with the processor.

DX!!!

I messed with the Fascinate, Vibrant & Captivate and the only thing good about them were the screen and processor. Everything else fails! I constantly got force closes on all three from trying to do simple tasks such as gps, texting, browser and youtube. samsung phones arent that cool to me. people hype them up when they have so many problems with touchwiz forceclosing everything. plus they have bad battery life.

I like the Fascinate too for its screen, but from what I've seen it suffers from pretty poor battery life like the Incredible. I'd go with the X if that's important to you...it seems to be the best of the smart phones on Verizon.

YERP!!! i can confirm that the moto phone have better battery life.

I have never messed around with a Fascinate (Droid X Owner) but I have heard a few things. Two of your needs are considered weaknesses of the Fascinate. (GPS & Google) Just a thought...=)

Have you made a choice yet??? Curiosity got the best of me, so I went ahead and got a Fascinate once I saw I can get it with a desktop dock, and while yes, the screen is awesome, There's a couple of dealbreakers for me... I'll post these on the SF forum in case I'm off on these...
-SF has no LED light, which means no visual notification of missed calls/sms/emails. There's an app called NoLED, but for me, it makes the function of the phone awkward.
-Turning the volume down doesn't turn the notification sound down, so if you want to quiet your ringer, an SMS can still come in loud, unless you turn it all the way to vibe.
-Unable to send some callers straight to voice mail by default (Ex's, bill collectors, etc.)
-The owner's manual says there's a selection within edit contact to select a specific ringtone, but I'm not seeing it.
-No 2.2 yet

It's not a bad phone, but I guess I just got used to doing things the way Moto has it all set up. My boss says she knows someone who thinks the SF is the bees knees, and she's going to have him talk to me about it... if he sheds any light on my issues, I'll edit.
