Hi everyone. I just got my G2, and I love it, but I have a few questions about android itself. I heard that yesterday tmobile released an update for the g2, that will enable wifi calling and tethering. Ever since I had my G1 I always wondered how the update works. I mean how come people get it at different time, I still haven't gotten my update. Thanks

im not quiet sure if the OTA update goes out by the phone serial numbers or by locations... if you want to download it manually, here is how...

If you'd like to manually update:
http://android.clients.google.com/pa...ase_signed.zip

This was taken from post by Read2Mosh on T-Mo forum

Thanks goes to android central.
  1. Download the update from Google's servers here. Make sure it's named update.zip. Not update.zip.zip, or anything else but update.zip Check Google to see how to view file extensions for your computer operating system if necessary.
  2. Plug your G2 into your computer, and copy the update.zip to your SD card, making sure you don't put it inside a folder. Drop it right on the top level (root) of the card. Have a look here if you need further instruction about transferring files.
  3. Shut off your G2, and power back on while holding volume down. When you see the white screen, choose recovery and hit the power button. When you see the picture of the G2 with the red triangle, hold volume up and power to see your menu.
  4. From the menu, choose Apply sdcard:update.zip, and let it do it's thing.
  5. Enjoy your OTA, without waiting for the carrier.

Updates are based on your SIM card (IEMI #). This update is still rolling out (Nov 3-8) so you either need to wait or try it yourself manually. I usually wait for the updates but not this time. I was having to many problems so I went ahead and did it myself. It's a beautiful thing. :D
