as the title states it is quite possible that the droid 1 will indeed be getting gingerbread. one thing's for sure something is coming..

Could it be that I might be selected for a Gingerbread trial? WOO HOO! I might have to unroot for THAT puppy!

if your email looked like this then i think you will hopefully be trying gingerbread!!

We recently learned of an opportunity to test new software for the original Droid in advance of wide release. These pre-launch “soak” tests are becoming increasingly common for Android phones. Naturally, we want to get as many Motorola Feedback Members involved as possible.
If you are interested in taking part, please re-register for the Motorola Feedback Network using this link. The new registration process is much shorter than the older one. If you register and provide the required information and permissions, you will be invited to take part in the upcoming test for Droid. We will contact you about the test when the time is right.

sadly enough i did not get it it was in the link

i wonder if it would be possible to release the os version they send to a dev and let them make a rom with it?

you know someone is going to get this, and hand it to the DEV team and us rooted guys are going to get it a day or two later i have a feeling it is 2.2.1 (which i am running already with PEv3) tho and not gingerbread.

It's probably their x/droid 2 skin. Hope not but you never know. Those participating, keep us posted!

I just hope it makes my phone capable of multitasking again. With 2.2's changes to the way apps close and how it "manages" memory, anything I try to leave running in the background gets automatically killed.

Gotta be honest, 2.2 made me fall a bit outta love with my droid.

Yes, I agree & it has opened the door to me looking at other smartphones OS when my contract is up.

that is very true. motorola only did the testing thing for ese53 and frg01b.
