when I bought x8 I was shocked the way the battery used to get empty every 2hours but than few minor settings have considerably increased my battery life.
Things you can do :
ok if you've installed ATK than read below
SETTINGS IN ATK
1. Ignore List
2. Autokill
IGNORE LIST
before you start using ATK ignore the following two application from getting killed
1. ATK (self explanatory)
2. Back Up & Restore
the second thing is interesting.
you may wonder why to keep it in ignore
but I've a reason. earlier when I started using ATK as soon as it killed backup&restore. my sim card used to get reset as if I've restarted my phone. its weird why it happens but to be on a safe side. let the baby live
HOW TO IGNORE APPLICATIONS??
in your ATK screen. tap & hold (long tap) the application you want to ignore and select the ignore option
AUTO KILL
ok now you dont want to again and again go & open ATK and kill applications.
so you can choose AUTOKILL
you'll get two options in AUTOKILL option
1. AutoKill Level
2. AutoKill Frequency
AUTOKILL LEVEL
as you can see there are three options there
CHOOSE : SAFE
AUTOKILL FREQUENCY
select that option to kill unused applications (which you've exited but still running as not all applications have quit option) whenever your phone is autolocked (screen time out)
USE OF ATK WIDGET :
well whenever you feel like you're phone is getting closed
[or]
you've opened a lots of applications and closed them (not exited them ofcourse) just click the ATK widget and Shhhhhh... it will kill all those not-in-use applications.
-END-
the above things have worked for me and now I enjoy longer battery life. however its not the only thing you can do there are lots of other stuff. if you've any more ideas share them.
USING ATK IS YOUR CHOICE I DO NOT FORCE YOU TO USE IT
hope you liked my clumsy tutorial
Things you can do :
- Widgets
press the menu key and add the following widgets on your home screen
1. Data Traffic
2. Power Control
3. ATK (if installed/optional)
DATA TRAFFIC & Power Control:
what do they do?
Data Traffic is basically related to your network internet. when you've it enabled it, you'll be able to use your network internet. if its turned off you wont be able to connect to the internet.
what it is helpful?
Xperia by default automatically updates a few applications or if you've some applications installed (facebook, gmail, etc) which automatically do updates than if data traffic is enabled it will allow those applications to update without even asking!!!!
so you'll never know that your battery is draining in your pocket even though you haven't used it.
Trust me. Gprs uses lotsa battery. so whenever you don't need GPRS just tap the data traffic button on your homescreen (the center button in th below screenshot) and your phone wont be able to use GPRS without your permission
2. Power Control
Its a very handy widget. it shows you (the topmost line in the image) buttons for quickly turning on/off wi-fi, bluetooth, gps, backgroundsync, brightness
you guessed it right. whenever you don't need the above things simply turn them off.
keep a habit of turning off WIFI & GPS when not in use. they're the major culprits in battery drain
- SETTINGS
time for some quick settings.
things to be changed
1. Brightness.
2. GPS
3. Synchronization
1. BRIGHTNESS
this may get you a bit dishearten but keep the brightness level to zero (not in real cuz you can easily see things unlike nokia phones where zero brightness makes you blind lol)
just remember this guru mantra
the more BRIGHT your phone, the more it EATS your BATTERY
but the choice is yours
2. GPS
Although the power control button will give you a quick way of ON/OFF it will only turn off the integrated GPS option OFF but the wireless gps option will be still turned ON.
so whenever you don't need GPS make sure both of them are turned off
2. AutoSync
no explanation for this. simply turn it off. its of no use (atleast for me)
- ADVANCED TASK KILLER FREE (Attached)
^^.there has been a lot of debate over ADVANCED TASK KILLER that whether you should install it or not????
personally I love this thing. Its like a superman for my phone but thats just personal opinion
ok if you've installed ATK than read below
first thing is first you'll have to add its widget on your homescreen
