Root Tutanium Backup Pro - Market Update

There's a Market update available for Titanium (root users), and it has a new feature for Pro. It sounds like it can force apps that are within a custom ROM to be updated from the Market, rather than having to flash an updated ROM with the latest app.

Could be very useful for anyone who has apps in phone storage to receive updates....

My first attempt at using it wasn't a total success:

* Installed Maps 4.7. Internal storage dropped a lot, as expected.
* Used TB to integrate it with ROM. TB reports success and internal storage increased.

However, I could no longer see the maps application in the app drawer, or manage->applications. Could of course be a conflict with something in my setup, but just a heads up.

(Wasn't a big deal for me as I was thinking about reflashing anyway, which is why I thought it a good time to test something like this).

An update: posts over in XDA are saying that this feature requires S-OFF. This makes sense, if it's going to be modifying /system while the phone is running, but also explains why I (and some others) have had problems. Unfortunately if you haven't got S-OFF it seems that it messes your phone up.

I guess that even if you have it might be worth doing a nandroid first, in case anything goes wrong.
