Help System Update HTC Desire not working

Dunno what's going on but every time i try go to settings and check for update, and then click "install now", my phone powers off, and then i get a progress bar that fills up a quarter of the way and then a triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it, and the little android right beside it.

I press "menu" and then a bunch of options come up and i see a string of code that says

clockword mod recovery v2.5.0.7
finding update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package....
E: Failed to verify whole file signature
E: Signature verificaiton failed
Installation aborted



All i can do from there is reboot (although the menu does provide a few options). Any tips?

you have a rooted device, flashing this will break your phone
its not installing because you are rooted, if you turn off signature verification it will flash but in most cases causes damage and you will need to RUU
nearly every root guide says you cannot flash OTA updates once rooted

We are all pretty much stuck with Froyo for the moment until someone releases a Rom based on Gingerbread.

If you want to do OTA (over the air) updates you will need to un-root using an RUU.

the latest update is still froyo lol
you are not stuck, if you are rooted you can update using custom roms. 2.3 will be out via custom rom quicker than official anyway

IF you are not Rooted and you try to update and it says "There is not update" that's because there isn't. Althouigh the OS has been updated, don't expect any update fom your network carrier any time soon. I was am 3 and took them about 6 months to get it out.

It needs to be adopted by HTC first and then your network carrier and then you get it.

i rooted my desire & latest OTA update (2.29.etc.)would not load ,the error msg.as above(failed;re signature etc.).i d/loaded the full 2.29.etc. 95 odd MB to my computer,connected my USB in charge mode,10 mins.later job done,also phone no longer rooted?

there is that, youll probably find a whole host of other problems aswell
you really should not put ota's on rooted devices.
