Root i really miss my root, please help

i recently did a factory reset on my ally and works good now but before i did i had rooted my phone and then un rooted it bcuz i wanted to see the ota update, big mistake its crap and now since having the update ( firmware 2.1 update 1) i cant re root, ive tried universal androot again, doesnt work, and ive tried z4root couldnt get it to go either. its still at 2.1 update 1, is there anything i can do on my phone to gain root and super user access again? please help im lost and really want root back

Do it the original, old-school way; manually.

what i Have done is go back to stock V6 again http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/166588-how-flash-stock-lg-rom.html But Fallow the Steps correctly and make sure you also get the stock recovery to get the OTA updates and update to VS740ZVB andn then root it with Universal Androot(one click Root) to root if you want root acces hope it helps

confirmed Z4root works you just gotta be patient with it.
SOmetimes you need to reboot and try again several times.

I know when I use my Nandroid method to go back stock to get OTA's it takes several tries but z4root gets it. usually 2 tries but it did go 3 tries once. Meaning 3 reboots and running Z4Root each time.

Also confirming, I just did this as of a minute ago, and I went into terminal emulator and got the # prompt

Do some research please before posting. rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin works on all android phones. Also, you can flash recovery via fastboot no root needed than flash superuser.zip. That is of course if z4root didn't work for you.

so what method do i do z4root several times or do what ally wonders said just flas recover to stock rom??? i really dont wanna kill my phone. what way would work the best... still running 2.1 update 1

I second that... same for me it took me a couple tries.. but i got it working..

Yes. I recently used Z4root from version 2.1 update 1 (the VZC update) and had to boot and retry a total of 3 times. It can take about 2-10 minutes for Z4root to finish, but it will tell you when it is done and rebooting if successful. If it just sits there spinning over 10 minutes, reboot and start over. It should eventually work.

When it worked for me the third time it was finished in only about 2 minutes.
