[ROM] SkyRaider Sense 3.5 Final [UPDATED: 12/06/10] - xda-developers

Change Log:

v3.5:
  • Includes updates from 3.3.4 flash-over
  • Zip-aligned apks
  • Updated Adobe Flash Player to 10.1.105.6 (modded for Hulu)
  • Fixed missing buttons in Gmail and the Browser
  • Fixed 1X/3G icons alternating as intended
  • Added toggles to status bar
  • Upgraded stock Android keyboard to Gingerbread with working auto-correct
  • Re-created the three themes to include the updates
  • Full ROM

This was the first custom ROM I've tried, and I'm pretty impressed. Solid and responsive. Like the toggle Widgets in the notification bar, although it seems to have replaced the recently used apps. I really want a colored Smooth Battery Icon instead, but when I flashed that theme I lost the toggles and a few other things, so I went back to 3.5.

The Gingerbread keyboard is really solid, too. Using it over SwiftKey and Swype right now.

I was also able to change the toggle Widgets by modifying the respective system file using ES Explorer.

My only question is should I keep using SetCPU, or let the ROM go on its own? Any Skyraider experts out there? I'm looking ofr max battery life.

Screenshot of the notification window (it's transparent). I change the toggles to my preferences. I also flashed the blue circle battery. It sounds like he is going to the option for recently used applications on the notification pane as well in the future.

How did you install the blue circle battery, I have skyraider 3.5 and everytime I flash the update thru rom manager I lose the taskbar shortcuts.

Directions for installing theme files:
1. Download the zip file(s) below
2. Unzip its contents into /sdcard/AndroidThemes (make sure to delete the old ones)
3. Download and install MetaMorph unless you already have it installed
4. S-OFF is REQUIRED
5. Open MM and select 'Pick existing theme'
6. Select one of the themes and MM will apply it
7. Apply each theme twice

EDIT: I believed I used the first battery theme.

Thanks for the info about getting the circle battery, love it. How were you able to change the icons in the drop down notification screen?

Looks like Launcher Pro

Yes, I use Launcher Pro, and use the "Froyo wide" dock.

In that same xda thread I posted, search for instructions on how to edit a text file on the Incredible that controls which toggles there are.

/system/skyraider/widget.user/custom.txt.

Easiest way for me was to use ES File explorer app, and checked all the settings in Root options.

I got my Incredible 3 days before release date through the mail but did not root until yesterday. The process was very easy and thanks to everyone that has put in the time to make it so easy to root now.

After much research on ROMs I decided on Skyraider 3.5. I tried the vanilla first but realized I needed the Sense version due to my corporate / exchange email issue (I tried the one that comes with Vanilla but my server will not work with it- I also tried Touchdown version but that didn't work because I use Launcher Pro widgets for Calendar and Gesture for people search).

So now I have Skyraider 3.5 Sense. I have had no problems. I am still trying to figure out how this ROM is different than stock. I do notice a cool widget (wifi, bt, gps, etc.) when I pull down my notification bar. I also notice that some programs come preloaded from Skyraider but I can't see myself using them. Other than that I do not see how this ROM is different than stock Android / Sense. Can you please let me know what else I can do or should be using in this ROM?

Ya, it's pretty much a stock Sense ROM, so there isn't a whole lot of new flashy UI stuff or options like MUIU or other ROMs. Main things are all the things you can do with root, wifi tether, backups, screenshots, set CPU for over/under clock, etc.

Thanks for the information. I believe that all of these above items can be done by rooting (and have nothing to do with SkyRaider). So far the only real difference that I have seen is the toggle on the notification pull down (which I happen to love). With that said, I haven't noticed any problems with SkyRaider either. I am having a battery issue but I believe that it might be kernel related.

Does slingbox work with this rom? and are there any things missing like GPS or camcorder? Im still deciding on a rom, I would like to keep the sense feel and only make minor tweaks like Icons n stuff. not in a rush, thinking about waiting till after the official Gingerbread release. Also what's the kernel like and can I keep using hydra?

been using SR3.5 all day and gotta say its pretty cool. Love how you can change the toggles in the drop down notifications list. I only use 4 and it looks great. Im using one of chads incredikernels and its running fast but I think the battery is being used a lil much but I wanna test it after a full change with a bump. Plus I think since I flashed so many combos of SR and kernels and backed up and rebooted a bunch of times that may have caused the quick drain. Im gonna be partying all day tomorrow so i'll have no time to mess with it so it will be a good test for the rom, kernel, and battery.
