Has anyone used both of these? I am still stuck on Eclair (VM Sprint Intercept owner who is about to root the phone if they don't hurry up already with the update) and need to maximize space. I can't install both; Vlingo is at the bottom of my list because it's huge compared to Pannous Voice Actions.

Pannous seems like it can do so much more, but I'm not sure if it is able to understand as natural English as Vlingo? Anyone have any impressions?

I installed both along with one that I think was called Virtual Assistant (the one with the customizable avatar.) Anyway, I ran all three through extensive testing and found Pannous' Voice Actions the CLEAR winner. The one with the avatar was my second choice and Vlingo came in last.

To be fair, if you're planning to use it in-car, Vlingo is set up nicely but it still falls short in the voice recognition department. It recognizes the words just fine but you have to stick to a strict set of commands or it will start messing up bad.

Voice Actions is based on a chat bot so it's designed to work with people's normal speech patterns rather than predetermined commands.

In short, if you're looking for a good in-car voice commands app and you're ok with a learning curve, get Vlingo. If you're looking for an impressive personal assistant that can do it all, get Voice Actions. If you're looking for something in between that also gives you a face to talk to, go with Virtual Assistant.

I hope this helps.

I too chose "VOICE ACTIONS"! I loaded it yesterday and it's very cool.
I went a step further and improved my Droid Bionic's voice it uses (and Navigation uses) to: "Ivona Text-to-Speech HQ" - Free on the Android Market.
...Now it's very smooth talking!

Wow!
I am now officially BLOWN AWAY!!!

Love Voice Actions! You can say "Show me a picture of Herman Cain", and it displays a photo of him! Or, say, "What sound does a Lion make", and your phone will roar!

How far is it to the moon, what's the temperature in Dallas, Texas... find things on Amazon... this app is really amazing!

Thanks for the tip on Ivona, also! Now my TB sounds much more human, and less, well, droid like!
