I removed the Blockbuster, Nova and Sprint TV apps from my rooted phone with the free version of Titanium Backup. Today i noticed that those three apps and maybe other bloatware is back. Sprint TV and Sprint's Nascar app are not back on the phone.

I used Titanium Backup again to remove the apps. The apps will be removed but the app icons remain in the app drawer. If i reboot the phone, the removed apps will be functional again.

My EVO is hardware ver. 0002, software number 3.70.651.1 with a netarchy kernel.

Removed, not frozen? Are you sure you have S-OFF?

Yes, I have S-OFF. I checked after i noticed that these apps were back on my phone.

When I 'removed' the apps again today, the app icons were left in the app drawer. If i selected the app i would get a error message saying the app could not be found. I then rebooted hoping the app icon would be removed from the app drawer, but instead the app would again be installed or active.

I have the same issue w. free titanium... Blockbuster, nova, etc are still there...

@Rob - Now I know it's not just me. I followed the advice from Akaz above and it solved my issue.

@Akaz - I came back to this thread with the intention to bump it just to thank you for your quick reply and a solution that worked. I didn't even need to reboot; Once I moved the apps out of the /system/apps directory the icons were removed from the apps drawer.

Yep, that's how it works :). Glad that worked for you.

Can you provide instructions how to do this? I'm technically inclined with PC's but haven't really dipped into Mobile yet so I'm not familliar with how to do this.

Pleeeeease?

Ok, try this:

1) Make a nandroid backup
2) Use root explorer (or a terminal emulator if you're familiar with linux commands), and browse to /system/app.
3) Copy the actual apks to /sdcard, then delete them from /system/app.
4) Reboot, and see if you actually still see them.

Sure. First of all, is your phone rooted? If not, you must start there. If it is rooted, read on. If you have root explorer, you can do this pretty easily. You can get it here:

Root Explorer (File Manager) - Android app on AppBrain

If you can find a free file manager out there that can be used as root, that's fine, but root explorer is highly regarded as the best, and is what I will give instructions for. Any other file manager that can be used as root will be similar, but you'll have to figure out instructions accordingly. Of course, start by creating a nandroid backup (you have to have root, by the way, to do any of this).

1) Open root explorer. The default start location is / (root, as in the root of the file system).
2) Select sdcard
3) Once there, select menu->New Folder. Name it something like "Removed_Apps". It doesn't really matter. Just pick something you'll remember.
4) Go back to / (back button will do it)
5) Select "system"
6) Select "app". You will see a list of all installed apps.
7) See the Rooting for Dummies sticky in the rooting section for safe bloatware to remove. If you remove something from here that is vital to the system, you'll be in trouble.
8) Up at the top right corner, there is a button that says "Mount R/W". That means you'll be able to remove stuff instead of just view it. Press that button.
9) Long press on whatever app you want to remove. Select the option to move.
10) Browse back to the sdcard as you did before. Go back to the folder you created earlier (/sdcard/Removed_Apps)
11) Select the option to paste
12) Go back to /system/app, and verify that the app is no longer there. If you removed something you shouldn't have, just follow the same steps, but select the option to copy, then paste it back in /system/app/

All of this can be done from the terminal emulator as well. If you're feeling brave, or just want to do this without paying for root explorer, I can type out instructions for you.
