Root Mikfroyo 4.4 beta I

white theme was put on hold so mik could crank out 4.4

edit: beta II is up http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883026&page=405 new version with apps2sd and something was improved for the hotspot hack.

minimal changes again. see mik's post on page 402 for change log.


if you don't want to flash until the final 4.4 don't flash this. mik usually has 2-3 beta's before the final release and he just posts them in his thread, not in the op. no need to donate to try it out.
final version may be out this weekend.

man this guy likes to work fast :)
 
I know me to. 4.4 is going to be his final rom before he goes back to school. So he wants it out soon so he can add a few themes and then be done, well done working on it so much.
 
Just finished flashing mikfroyo 4.4 beta then flashed netarchy toastmod 4.3-cfs-havs-more-nosbc everything is running like butter.....smooth butter. I don't really see to much difference between this and mikfroyo 4.3.........can someone that has run 4.3 and is trying 4.4 tell me what they see as different..Thanks

I believe the difference is the fat content in the smooth butter LOL
did he not post a little change log on whatever page of the thread that you downloaded it from? If not he will once it's an official release

ok 4.4 beta I:
  • non-apps2sd version (most popular, so might as well stick to that as the beta)
  • skinned all the menu icons
  • opt gmaps
  • changed a few taksbar icons
  • mostly tiny graphical changes
  • hulu working with new flash player version
  • updated..................................
what is skinning all menu icons, is that when you hit menu and the icons you see there...if so I don't remember what the old ones looked like lol, sorry
 
hmm I thought the apps 2 sd was more popular, I remeber reading that Mik himself thought apps2sd was faster

I'm not sure I really know what that is or how to do it....has something to do with partioning the sd/card which I have no clue about lol....I do have 2 of each of the standard ringtones...the ones that say standard 1..2..3..4
 
I have noticed some window sheering...at least I think thats what it's called....when in profile view on web pages the left side of picture is slightly distorted when paging up..or down
 
I believe it's called screen tearing and I've learned that some people have that problem usually with "havs" kernels, supposedly that was fixed in the 4.3.1 netarchy release, try that kernel, or you can try a no havs one

Thank you sir...I will give it a try..the no havs thing I mean. I am using the 4.3 kernel your using but it is a havs:D
 
i am using havs as well, I have never had screen tearing. Try the CFS 4.3.1 with havs , the said he fixed the screen tearing in that one

Are you using 4.3.1 or 4.3? If 4.3, more or less aggressive? I suggest trying either 4.3 less aggressive havs, or 4.3.1 havs. Or, of course, just try nohavs, as that almost invariably works for everyone.

yep this is it. this is about the only thing visually different with the rom. the old icons were just greyed out looking (same as factory)

i just got this loaded now and am going to start playing with it.

I will try that thanks, does the screen tearing show that there is a problem with the rom/kernel combantion that could lead to damaging the cpu or something else:(

I am running the 4.3-cfs-havs-more-nosbc at this time. I will try the 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc
 
Magic.....it's magic, went to 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc and away went screen tearing....I love you f...ing guys..lol.....ahhhhh I'm straight...not that there's anything wrong with not being straight...ummmm you know what I mean
