Customizable Lock Screen?

Is the lock screen customizable? I have a hacked iPhone with an application that shows my mail, incoming IMs, my calendar, etc. This is really handy when I want to take a quick look at something without getting all the way into my phone. Is something similar possible with the Hero?

If by customizable you mean changing the look of it, then yes. The lock screen we have all seen isnt really a "lock" screen, but more like a "dont accidently use your phone" kinda thing.

A simple swipe and down and you're into your phone. Another swipe down and you have your notifications.

From what I understand, the actual lock screen is a series of dots, in which you "draw" your lock to unlock it. Which I believe is also customizable.

Wanted to reopen this question. I recently jailbroke my iPhone so that I could actually turn my lock screen (this is an unfortunate term as I don't actually have a code lock on it -- it's the slide to unlock screen) into something useful.

The app is called LockInfo and has a bunch of themes that you can run on it and a bunch of options. It's fairly non-interactive and simply just gives you a list of your sms, voicemail, phone, calendar, mail, todo, weather, and twitter alerts. It's honestly the single best thing about the phone and something that is indespensible. Here is a screen shot. Remember, it can be themed to look a little nicer, but you get the idea.

I want to get an Android device when my contract is up and I'd really like something like this. I know there's the notification drop down thing, but it seems like I'd need to do two swipes to get that instead of just hitting the screen on button like I do now. Does something like this exist or am I waiting for something like FlyScreen to offer a widget for something like this? Thanks!

That's a beautiful lock screen :)

I've been looking for something similar as well. I come from the land of Windows Mobile, and used to use S2U2. It's great. It's very customizable, and displays your appointment calendar, number of unread SMS, emails, calls, etc. It also shows the current weather...all that info without having to unlock your phone.

I've been hoping that there might be a equivalent for the android platform sometime soon.

However, I'm not looking for a interactive lock screen like FlyScreen, just something to display my essential data.

Has anyone seen anything like that yet?

Thanks!
