Root I have a question

Ok so what I know about rooting so far is that it is basically to give yourself "super user" or "switch user" powers. What I want to know is if there are any legal ramifications for this, will it void my warranty or insurance? And also what are the chances if me bricking my phone. Now I am not someone who can't learn how to do this, from what I've seen on YouTube it looks easy but everyone says there is the chance that you will brick your phone.

Thanks

There's almost always a way through bricking unless one does something really ill advised like flashing an old build. Otherwise, you can sbf (restore) factory blur.

Whereas rooting fouls your warranty, there's virtually no way to tell, because you can always, once again, re-flash stock. :)

The ultimate implication is... if you root and install a custom rom, you rely on us for support. This shouldn't be a big problem tho b/c most of the seasoned users here know more about fixing a boot-looped phone than the average VZ tech anyway. :D

Just make lots of backups thru recovery and a backup app like Titanium. Be careful what you restore from Titanium (see Titanium 101).

Make sure you make a recovery backup shortly after rooting, before you do something you might regret, so you have a path back to stock.

Steven58 chest bumps Colchiro and lets out a manly cry "YEEEAH!!" (Pumps his fist, too, to boot). (too much?) ;)

Lol well I'm glad that you guys are so welcoming to new members. I have been to forums before that if you had any less than 1,000 posts and asked a question they would flame the hell out of you. I'm glad to be part of such a good community. This is my first android phone, and I'm sure just like everyone else who got their first android phone it's a little overwhelming lol
