Root GingerVillain 1.1

A wee question, if I wanted to use villain set up to instal these updates and tweaks, how would I go about it?
I'm guessing I download the update or tweak on to sd card, then go into boot mode and installed update from zip?

Forgive my noobness and lack of ability to search! Am on the bus and just noticed the 1.1 update available on setup on this forum...

Cheers for info mate, I wanted to make sure before trying out anything new... Does this count for all the mods etc that are listed too?

Had wondered if it was that easy but didn't want to mess about till I was sure, all the talk of different kernels etc....will have to read up a bit more when in front of the pc at home first, cheers for the info.

Yes, anything in the Villain Setup must be downloaded first, then installed. Once you choose Install, it will ask 1 more time to confirm. Then your phone will reboot, unpack the goods, install what you selected and boot up.

GV 1.1 is solid. I know, it's only been a few hours but, I've used all my normal apps and nothing has FC'ed or lagged. Thank God I don't own a W7 Mobile device, their update has gone terribly wrong.

It does.

One thing though, It is worth taking nandroid backups before flashing things.

If you are downloading multiple mods too, as villain set up boots into recovery, flashes then loads android, it is easier to flash all at once via recovery yourself without having to keep rebooting between each one.

Absolutely agree, always backup before any system change/mod!

Sounds like GV is pretty stable now. Does it include everything that was in DeFrost or is it not that complete yet?

Also is there a big advantage to being on a 2.3 build versus a 2.2 build like DF?

Just thinking about moving to something a little different to Sense (just for the sake of a change) and these 2, from the same stable, seem to be the pick of the bunch.

yes the low quadrant score is due to 3D graphics not being optimised (need nexus 1 drivers I believe).

The rom is snappy as hell. With 3d optimisation expect 17-1800 quadrant. But quadrant doesnt really tell us much anyway.

GV is basically the new defrost and on some kernels I was getting around 2000 on defrost. Think the highest was 2073 using vork kernel.

This is not mentioning my data2sd days when I would routinely get a (fake) score of 2500
