Help Can you recommend a better keyboard?

I really don't like how on the keyboard the smileys button is larger than the back button. I keep accidentally pressing smileys when I want to erase a letter.

I am loving Swype, btw.

EDIT: Loving Swype EXCEPT for when I try to type "too", it types in "toooooooooooo". I don't know why. I must have programmed that word in somehow. How do I delete it?

I found this keyboard I like called SwfitKey Keyboard and the main reason why I like it is because it has a MICROPHONE icon on it which allows you to talk and it converts it to text. I find it very useful :)

It also seems very good at suggesting the words that I'm trying to type and saves me time typing. So I like that. I also like the design and layout of it.

There is a free version but also a paid version. Not sure what the difference is (actually I think the free version is a limited time trial version) but I liked it so much I had to have it and for the price (only $1.99 US Dollars when I bought it) I found it more than worth it.

My link (see above) takes you to the Android Market where you can read more about it as well as seeing images of it (there is also a video of it in action that you can watch).

Cool! I will check it out!

ALSO, AHHHHHH!

Can anyone help me with this? In the middle of swyping tips come up telling me that certain words are taking another words place, it's so annoying! I have DISABLED the tips thing but it still pops up. Any ideas?

Also any ideas on my problem of trying to Swype "too" and it types in "toooooooo"?

You can go to the Swype settings then do the Swype Tutorial. It really helps.
Like I was really going through a bunch of keyboards and then after I did the tuorial, I realized that Swype is prolly the best for me so I stuck with it.

What you have to do is highlight "tooooooooo" or whatever word thats dumb and then press the little Swype button on the bottom left of the keyboard and then press it again and itll open a box that asks if you want to delete the word.

As for keyboard recommendations, I would recommend WiFi Keyboard. It allows you to type on your phone using your computer's browser. So you could type with your computer keyboard and itll go to your phone.
Ive been using it since January and I love it!

I prefer Smart Keyboard. I tried Better Keyboard but it would often lag. I downloaded the trial of Smart Keyboard and love it! Its extrememly accurate and can keep up with your fast typing. It also has the voice to text feautre. You can download a trial version at the Android market that includes all of these features for a limited time so you can see if you like it or not.:)

Or can you only use it when you are texting? My reason for asking is because Handcent, Shows the Microphone option as well. Skype can be modified to be able to suggest more or less words. Since I'm a major spelling champion I have mine on a lower setting so random words don't pop up. Also does it have any lag issues, You've got the Ascend right? Are the buttons modifiable? Like can you change the theme and coloring? What about changing the size on the screen for portrait and landscape mode? Thanks!

Well I made it my default keyboard somehow (and yes I have the Ascend) so it is the only keyboard that pops up for me now (which is fine by me).

Sometimes there is a hint of lag when it very first pops up but it goes away after a moment. For the most part I'd say there is none and what little there is (at times) is minimal and goes away quickly.

I haven't bothered to try to change the coloring of it or modify it ... it seemed fine for me as is.

Basically I went with it because I liked the MICROPHONE feature on the Google search bar and wanted the same on my keyboard. So now that it is my standard keyboard the MICROPHONE feature on it works when it pops up. So basically I can use it's SPEECH TO TEXT ability with any app that uses a keyboard (including sending text msg's). Yes the irony of speaking out a text msg I am sending via a cell phone to someone else who will be reading it on their cell phone is not lost on me LOL

I believe the free version (see my link in my post above) is a full featured (but limited time) trial. All I can say is give it a shot. I like it. Maybe you will as well.

No, This is just a basic warning. It's letting you know that it can access your data/information. It pretty much means that the app itself has a way of caching all the information you put through it. I would not worry too much.

Just my opinion of course.

I had Better Keyboard installed but that message prevented me from using it earlier.

The voice-to-text is a feature that I haven't used before. Surprisingly it works very well. It doesn't capitalize the first letter in the sentence though or have punctuation at the end, though.
