Next Batch of Thunderbolts

I'm holding off on purchasing the Thunderbolt in these first batch of phones so that everyone else can become guinea pigs. I made the mistake with my Droid and bought it close to the release date. Supposedly, each batch of phones get better than the ones from the release date. A few issues with the Thunderbolt have popped up on these forums i see (reception issues,battery issues,build quality issues). Is there a good period to wait when mabye HTC will update newer batches of Thunderbolts that will have less issues? A week from now? A month? Couple of months?

phone is fine with exception of battery life. no need to wait. if you want a tbolt just get one and if battery is an issue get an extended battery.

In my opinion, people are always more likely to bring up negative issues with their new products (phones, cars, etc.) compared to positive things. These "issues" represent a small population of people who own a ThunderBolt. In my case, I have nothing wrong with my phone and get around 14 hours on one charge after bump charging.

I have been doing it as much as I can. I have probably done it about 3 times. Each time I bump my phone it takes less time to "fully" charge.

Its rumored that on Thursday 4g Unlimited data will no longer available. I also recall that the price will be going up too.

The device has been rooted and all the devs are busy on stuff. So we all know that they will be busy fixing stuff too.

There are a few ways of doing it, and I'll probably miss one of them.

1) Charge your phone completely with it on until the green light comes on. Then unplug, turn the phone off, then plug in and charge until the light turns green again.

2) Charge the phone with it off the entire time.

3) Charge until the light is green, unplug and wait for it to turn green again.

All of this is correct, but you don't have to unplug before powering down. It doesn't make a difference. Once its off the light will turn Orange regardless

So the bump charging, does that work the other way too? If your phone is turned off, turn it on and let it charge? I'm not sure I believe in the whole bump charging thing, mostly because I always see it take an extra charge after you've turned it on or off if you have it plugged in. Same thing happened with older phones I've owned.

Yes, turn the phone off.

Once your device is charged with power on. Unplug it and run the battery down a percent or two. Then turn it off...and then plug it in. Your orange light should come on and stay on for a bit of time (20-30 minutes in my experience).

This rumor was regarding unlimited LTE plans for Aircards, NOT for cell phones. That same article also said it is believed unlimited 4G for phone will be around for a few more months.

Sorry couldn't find the link but it was droid-life or Engadget... Something mainstream like that.

Where are you getting this rumor?... I called VZN sales tonight and asked if the saleman had heard anything like this and he told me he has not.

So, I would like to know your source... Not attacking you, just want to know where you heard this...

Interesting, not because he'd necessarily know, but because he has high incentive to tell you it's true (rush you to buy now, for his commission) and didn't. I doubt a salesperson would choose to keep info quiet that could help him make a sale.

This leads me to believe it either isn't true, or at the very least their sales staff don't know about it yet.

You signed a contact that locked in unlimited 4G. If Verizon tried to up your price, they would be in breach of contract and you would be released from your contract. Verizon won't do that though...your pricing is locked in.

I purchased a release date droid and almost all of the initial gripes were solved with an early firmware update. Including battery life.

I know this subject has been beaten to death already, but I've had my tb exactly two days now and the battery life is similar to the droid. (A little less than a day) I can handle that.

Hey thought I would comment on this information about first batch, next batch and so forth. The first Thunderbolt was decent except power button was sticking after a while, in my home the cell signal was boucing all over the place, second day of having the phone first 2 calls went straight to voicemail instead,not letting me hear the phone ring! Battery was subpar after charging and then doing the bump charge method, got better after power saver adjustments.

Went back to the store and told my friend the asst. mngr. @ local corporate store the issue I was having with the power button sticking, he took it to the back tried clean the button up and said no go. Swapped it out for another new phone, set the phone backup and was good to go. Also told him that I called Verizon tech 2x about signal issues and got suggested on getting another battery @ my cost+ discount to help out. Called verizon Customer Care to explain the situation very nice of course about having to buy an extra battery and watching both of them under constant signal strain draining both batteries, and got the cold push off. Now bear mind I have been with Verizon for 2 years, just re-uped my contract for a new one. Never have called them constantly on a bad matter except for 3x when a serious mistake was made. Always trying to speak with them postively on how good service has been more and they treated me. Now I just got done being treated like this for asking for $20 credit difference in cost on the second battery.

Oh yeah second Thunderbolt alot better so far no issues, no bouncing signal, no draining the crap on the battery severely!

Yep - this works quite well.

20-30 mins in my experience also, sometimes only 15. But it keeps you phone from dropping from 100% to 92% in the first 5 minutes of moderate use.

A good tip.
