New to EVO SHIFT 4G

HTC Mike

Newbie
Hello I just wanted to stop by and say hello to the fourm. I have been a fourm browser for a year now and I have decided to finally sign up. I like how everyone here is friendly and helpful with information.

I am a sad owner of the HTC Hero :( at first I was so happy to finally have a ROID phone but the hero only tickeld my pickle for a few weeks till I started noticing all the bugs and slow proccesor speeds and lock ups. But i like the HTC DROID brand and name as I hate the IPhone and all the hype that it gets but thats my oppinion.

(I still think Droid is so much better)

I am pround to announce that on friday the 18th I will be finally uograding to the EVO SHIFT 4G :) and cant wait. I love the fact that it had a slide out key bord and is alot better than the HERO. As soon as I get the EVO SHIFT 4G I will let the world of Droid fourm know as to I would need help with alot of info as to what the phone can actually do other than just use it for talk and text.

I have done alot of reading on the Shift and am amazed as to what it can do but for as much as I research I am on of those who need Droid phones for dummies books lol.

But overall I am happy to finally be part of the team. :D

This is my first forum post too.

I'm a new proud owner of the HTC Evo Shift myself, and recently upgraded from a Hero as well! I must say, the performance difference between the 2 phones is night and day. You're going to be bewildered when you finally get your new phone.

My girlfriend also upgraded her CrapBerry to a Shift, and shes ecstatic!

Welcome to the both of you. I know exactly what you mean, I came from an Intercept..

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I am getting so impatiant to get my hands on the evo shift already. I went to the sprint store the other day and was checking out the evo shift and yeah wow is all I have to say. I was just reading another topic and came across a post that said ( I wounder how many people are going to be on the HERO ditching train) I for one am on that train lol.

Thanks for the welcoming. Enjoy your new phone SyDiko

i came from the blackberry and am happy about the switch.. im still a little sad over the bbm and easy texting with 1 hand thing.. but its ok.. can do so much more with the shift.. 1 app that is great is the tikl.. touch to talk thing.. its great.. just like the old nextel almost.. great way to tell some1 quickly im here instead of dialing and calling and all.. plus alot of people have android so its good.. still trying to get adjusted to the phone though..

I'm glad I got an unlimited data plan, because I use my Evo Shift CONSTANTLY! Welcome to the club, and say goodbye to your free time! :-)

I have read that BBM is coming to android. Don't hold me to it, but I think engadget did a blurb about it in the last month....

Finally got my EVO SHIFT. WOOOOOOO I love it, its great but on problem well not really a problem more like an issue. I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS PHONE lol.

I will say this phone is awsome with what I have figured out already but still dont know anything about it guess it will take time to get if figured out. If anyone has any good info for me plz let me know.

I setup my Evo Shift to look exactly like my Hero!

The only thing that I didnt like about the Shift (which I shouldnt complain about) is that it came with a 2g sdcard. Radio Shack had a sale on the cards and I picked up an 8g for like $10 bucks.

Hello,
Another guy coming from a Hero here. All I can say is this is how I hoped my Hero worked.

Everything is smooth and no lag. Internet is fast and fluid, and a keyboard too.

Anybody find any reason to root yet?

Yeah, wireless tether, overclocking, custom roms, because I can.... ;)

Lol, I know.. I was being a smart ass because with the Hero you HAD to root it for it to even work right.

I do miss the ability to switch roms more than anything though. I don't really think I need to have the ability to overclock, its fast enough.

You can flash roms... What do you mean? Or you being facetious again?

;)

I also came from the Hero. It was a nightmare. Ive never had a phone where it was only used for a year. I like to keep phones for at least 2 years. The hero became unbearable. With the Shift its night and day when compared to the hero. HTC makes great products but the hero didn't have the specs to handle the system. Plus I am not one to root a phone so the shift is perfect the way it is.

After a week of having the phone i have to say this phone is what i expected to beand only paying $125. The hero yes was a bad phone everything laged and couldnt deal with it anymore.

Yeah, over time the phone became sluggish.

If you were trying to dial a number and text message arrived, the phone would literally say, 'you're doing too much!!' And then then poor thing would hang for 6-7 seconds. This was usually followed by a force-quit of all your running applications.
