Steps prior to Android 2.2 / Froyo upgrade - based on Sprint Samsung Intercept

Here are few steps for Samsung Intercept Froyo / Android 2.2 upgrade. These are based on Sprint Samsung Intercept Android 2.2 / Froyo release. Sprint was too good to their customers to post release notes in advance.

Important Notes:

- Ensure your battery is fully charged before applying the update.
- DO NOT REMOVE THE BATTERY UNTIL AFTER THE UPDATE HAS

COMPLETED AND THE HANDSET REBOOTED. THE INITIAL REBOOT MAY TAKE UP

TO 10 MINUTES AS FINAL CHANGES ARE COMPLETED
- This update may result in data loss. Please visit the FAQs located at

www.samsung.com/us/m910/softwareupdate prior to initiating the update.

Application and Settings considerations on the DL05 Android 2.2 (Froyo) Software Update

Support for Adobe Flash 10.1 is not included.
The Memo application and any memos will be removed. Please BACKUP IMPORTANT MEMOS prior to performing the update.
To save important memos, you can copy and paste the memos to an email and send it to an email address.
During the update, the Phone application Call Log will be deleted
Upon completion of the update, you will be asked to re-enter your Google account credentials. You will also be required to activate Exchange Admin to enable new features.
Camera settings will be reset to default upon completion of the update.
Once your device has completed the update installation, it may take up to 10 minutes to restore your data (depending upon sync settings).
Once installation is complete, you may have to re-enable synchronization for some of your social network accounts in order to regain access to those contacts and information.

will i have to reinstall all my apps after moving to 2.2?

Unfortunately, yes, all but the ones that are installed when on upgrade ("Stock" VM update)

how about my phone contacts?? will i loose em?

They will be saved if they are saved to your Google/Gmail account. Only if they are stored in Phone storage they will be deleted. If they are in phone storage I think there is a way to back them up to your SD card. Google it

what if, say, you hadn't read this before and when you tried to update, it took more than an hour. so you DID take the battery out during the update. and now it won't let you update it again. then what?

I'd say you have to wait until you can do it manually with the zip file..but I'm not exactly an expert on this.

NO, you don't lose any of your apps. The only thing that disappeared on mine was memos.. only because it is not supported.. and any calls in my call log I had not saved in my contacts before I did the update, which I had none. i did not lose anything.

Can some one give complete step by step instructions on how to update to the new system
