hey isaacj87 i am totally new at this but very interested in seeing the difference. i already have my phone rooted and the clockwork mod correct but where i run into probs is downloading the link and saving it and zipping it can u plz help me also can u help with froyo2.2.1 if so plz send me a private message and I'll give you my email link thank u soo very much i look fwd to hearing from u.

So I installed CWM 2.5.18, wiped everything ( after backing my original rom), flashed icarus, now when it gets to the green android loading screen, its just an endless loop. I left the phone running all night and it's still going at it. I have tried using the same steps around 3-4 times now and still nothing. What gives?

This is only for metropcs users running Icarus 1.1, as the APN settings are wrong.

Here's the fix:

1. Go to Settings > Wireless and networks >Mobile networks > Access Point Names
2. Press menu and select new APN.
3. Enter the following info.

Name: MetroPCS

APN: <Not set>

Proxy: proxy.metropcs.net

Port: 3128

Username: <Not set>

Password: <Not set>

Server: <Not set>

MMSC: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc

MMS proxy: <Not set>

MMS port: <Not set>

MCC: 310

MNC; 16

Authentication type: PAP or CHAP

APN type: default,supl,mms



4. After you have entered the above, press menu and save. Now make sure that the new apn has a green dot beside it.

5. Now you should be able to send and receive mms messages

Put Icarus 1.1 on the phone and now it will not download any MMS pictures or videos. I click the download button and it says downloading then goes back to the Download button. Sometimes it saeys the download was unsuccessful. Any ideas as to why thats happening?

BTW I also had tried sending a picture message and all it does is sit there with the little red working clock next to it.

I did some research and this is coming from a different website but for those of you that are still having problems with mms here is the key point to get it working the above is correct just this is needed to be done
To set up your data the easiest way is as follows:
-Activate voice dialer
-Say "Open APN"
-hit okay okay to open the APN
-Click on your current APN to edit the settings or activate the menu and create a new one
-Enter in these settings

Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
Port: 3128
Username: your number@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs

The other settings I just left them how they were.

When you set your username and pass for that and you save and exit and open it back up do those fields say "Not Set"? for some reason no matter how many times I try it will NOT allow me to store those. I save and exit and open it back up to check to make sure they are their and they are not.
 
i am on MetroPCS and can help a little if people are having problems still..just to take the stress off Jazziette and others

Hello i'm new to the world of ROMing [not sure about the exact term used for it] this will be my first rom EVER not just on my Ascend .I learned about ROMs about 3 days ago,I have rooted my phone using Z4root and I so far have installed Titanium backup with a addition of many other things like a custom bootloader,theme,a custom keyboard =D.But I need assistance installing this ROM.I did all steps up to 5.However, when I hold Volume up+Call key+power it just brings me to a blue screen with the title "Android system recovery <2e>" at the top with only 3 options:

1.Reboot system now
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache partition

What can I do? I REALLY want this ROM,from what i've seen and heard on youtube its AMAZING and looks sexy and sleek.Please help!Thank you.I appreciate the time you put into this thread :D

Reason is you didnt install CWM 2xxxx, download it and put you phone in bootloader and flash
the cwm....

you might have had a bad flash...just re flash it making sure you wipe everything including boot,data,system,cache...

this is working just fine, i have had no problems after i saved a few times and go back save again..it saves and doesnt change anything..i can send and recieve all MMS
 
how do i go back to origonal ascend android 2.1 i saved a backup before i installed icarus but i jkust dont know what to do to go back to factory. i just dont know what option to choose on clockwork mod options to use the backup i made

thats correct you dont have to go back to stock to flash a rom, just make sure everything is wipe and never skip a step installing nothing, Good Luck!!!!

Where can i find a working download of CWM 2xxxx?I can't find it through google..
 
what windows are you using also? if you are using windows..i dont remember what, but the dev who wrote that guide told me how to bypass a problem with cwm 2xxx because i kept getting 3xxx
 
It REFUSES to work no matter what I do.Can somebody make a quick video walkthrough?Or help me step by step through skype [mic] or MSN?I'm sorry for the bother.
