Just got my Atrix today and wanted to ask ,
1. Do i need a virus protector app?
2. Should i get a task killer?
Ive heard alot of different things about if you should or shouldn't get these

1) Yes. Your phone is like a computer and malware, spyware or viruses can be in an app, e-mail or even website links. You don't hear it happening a lot, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I us "Lookout" from the market. Its free and works really well. I used it on my Backflip, before I purchased the Atrix.

2) No. There is a task killer already installed made specifically for the Atrix and it works really well. You can customize it how you like.

Since the title says "NEW to Android" DO NOT get a task killer and be one of those people who take back the phone because of lag and other user-error issues.

let's be fair, though. While using a task killer in any automated fashion is probably not a good idea, there is nothing wrong with killing the odd runaway app every now and then when necessary. Should you use a task killer, just make sure you do not configure it to do anything on its own. Manually killing that new app that just won't let go of GPS and killing your battery is just fine. Moto even saw fit to include one of their own which has a handy 'kill on close' feature.

There is nothing wrong with task killers, just the people try to use them without knowing how

To the OP, there are some good tips on this forum, it's a bit slow at times, but there are some great beneficial threads on here that cover the basics. You will get your fair share of useless posts like the previous one. Somewhat new to android myself, but really like it so far. Lookout Mobile Security is the # 1 security app for android right now, free. Task Killer Advanced on your Atrix phone is sufficient.
