Who is getting the Incredible 2 tomorrow? (4/28)

If so, what are you looking forward to most about the phone?

If not, do you plan on getting it eventually or waiting?


I plan on at least looking at it tomorrow...may or may not buy. I think the phone will be the perfect size (those 4.3" screen phones just seem huge to me and do not fit in my front pocket very comfortably) especially since I'm coming from an Eris...

I'm planning on picking it up tomorrow. I'm not thrilled about signing a 2 year contract but $439 is more than i'm willing to pay.

I agree. I love my incredible but at my age the larger screen will be nice.

I'll wait to see if there are any many problems with it then likely upgrade.

I've been a bit jealus of my wifes droid x battery life and large screen.

I will be purchasing one of these tomorrow.
I've decided to stay with a 3g phone so I can stay on my southern calif "all you can eat" promo plan.
If I go lte, so does my 3g pricing... so
This phones internal memory is a little low... imo
But I want a faster processor, bigger screen and front facing camera.
So.... maybe maybe
the phone I will be replacing is an lg ally.
The phone rolls out with froyo. I wonder if this phone will be getting gingerbread?
The first reviews I've seen on this, seem surprised and disappointed it's rolling out with 2.2.1

I *think* i've read that gingerbread is queued up for Dinc1 at some point so naturally It would follow that the Dinc2 would get it around the same time. But don't quote me on that.

John -- Great link. He's got an excellent review of the Dinc2. On his website he posts a couple of Q&A's and one jumped out at me:

Question: Throw up comparisons to the original Incredible in terms of speed, design, etc… Also comparisons to the Thunderbolt and/or iPhone 4 (by Logan)
Answer: Thunderbolt in my opinion is bit better, but again (IMO!!) because it has 4G but when it comes to speed and stuff, Droid Incredible 2 Wins! So what do you want? Speed of your network, or speed of your smartphone?

Just got back from the vzw store with Dinc2 in tow! I gotta tell ya, this phone is even better (IMO) than the reviews state. You gotta get this in your hands. People seem to think it's a step backwards in the age of 4G and dual-core, but to me this phone is S-O-L-I-D compared to what's out there now.
It's the little things that make the difference such as being able to use all ringtones as alarm notifications, car dock that activates when placed in a corresponding dock, easier navigation through the phone's menu than the Dinc1... that said, you need to just get this in your hands NOW!!!

Want to add one more feature I came across that I think is absolutely great. It's called 'Power Saver'. In settings go to the Power menu and you will see options for Power Saver. When you reach a certain threshold for remaining battery (say 15%) Power Saver will kick in and shut down syncing, wifi (if you're not connected), bluetooth (if you're not on a call), set your screen brightness, screen time-out, etc. You can also turn these individual functions on and off. We will see how well this baked-in functionality will really help in the long run, but it's nice to know it's there.

Well... I personally can't say for sure as they didn't have any car docks in stock. But, from what I understand when you place the phone in the car dock (horizontally) the phone registers that you are in your car and turns on the features that correspond with the car dock app. As soon as I find out more i'll be sure to fill you in.

I noticed that too and seems like a very smart idea. The refinements in this phone are really nice!

I'm not familiar with this feature. What does it do?

It's a feature that all of the Motorola Droid phones have had since day one with the original Droid, but I don't know how widespread it's been with other manufacturers. There's a small magnet in the back of the phone, and then there are corresponding magnets in the OEM car dock and the OEM home dock. When you place the phone in either, the strength/location of the magnet tells the phone which dock it's in. Then the phone automatically reverts to a special layout for that dock in particular. Typically the home dock has the look of an alarm clock with weather and options for music/video/picture playback. The car dock has a layout that's intended to make basic tasks one would be likely to need in a car - navigation, phone, etc - easier to perform (usually with larger buttons on the screen). This has been a feature that I've loved with all of the Motorola Droid phones I've had (original, X, Pro).
