Why is it taking so long to get Netflix?

So I made the move to the Thunderbolt from my DX in order to lock in unlimited 4G. Overall, the Thunderbolt is a nice phone. 4G is smoking fast when it works. I keep the phone on a charger most of the day so the battery life is not a deal breaker for me. In fact, it helped me get a great price on a 1 month old used phone. But is kills me that we cannot get a solid GB build and cannot get Netflix. Sure, I know I can flash a GB based ROM, but the brick warnings and the fact that it seems every GB ROM has major issues keeps me from doing that. I especially need my camera working.

How can HTC and Verizon allow its current flagship to be so far behind the times? I am definately a Moto guy and will switch to either the Bionic or Targa. This is my first and perhaps last HTC phone. I had GB and Netflix for the past month on my DX and now I need to wait perhaps another month to get it on the TB.

What could be causing this delay?

Now doubt the Bionic will still come with problems.

We are waiting for HTC to update the device, basically.
When they are updated to gingerbread it most likely will work.

The question is..... will Verizon have it blocked?

How is that a question the netflix app already works on several Verizon phones no it won't be blocked for the thunderbolt. I shall bow thank you then un-thank you for pleasure

Having the blockbuster app preinstalled won't prevent us from getting the netflix app. Just like having sense doesn't prevent us from using launcher pro. As has been said before t our phones lack the DRM needed GB should fix that and last I heard it is tenativly scheduled for the end of Q2

Edit:
Less than 10% of android devices are running 2.3 or higher so I wouldn't say we are behind the pack in any way, if you are the type person who doesn't want to wait for updates you should have went with a nexus phone

I didn't say most phones have GB, I said most have Netflix. The TB was touted as the Verizon Flagship and HTC's flagship. My point is these companies should support these devices. I only upgraded to lock in unlimited 4G. The Nexus does nothing for me. I do miss my Droid X. I judge carriers and phone developers by the support they give to their top products. Moto has already got Netflix on EVERY droid brand product and GB on all but one Droid. HTC? Still waiting.

Oh yeah, and there are major battery and restart issues as well. HTC should be working their butts off to get an update out ASAP.

Check the second part of your OP. The thunderbolt is not a droid brand phone. HTC did not include the correct DRM files netflix requires in the phone that is why netflix will not work. How would they know what netflix needed? You complain the flagship phone is behind when it really isn't the flagship phone is the LG 4g phone that just rolled out, or the X2 depending on how you look at it

The last time I checked the netflix app only officially worked on about 8-9 phones, total. I wouldn't say most phones have netflix if thats the case. I installed a modded version thats supposed to work on every phone and it works great. Battery killer though.
