So I recently rooted my Epic with one click root for the main purpose of fixing the keystrokes not registering on slide out keyboard issue. I downloaded the zip file for the patch from XDA and installed it on my phone, but it did not work. I still get keys that do not register. Anyone know what is wrong?

I think there were a couple of keyboard patches...which one did you use?

This one: [Tweak] Impaled Keyboard Patch Fix | Flashable Reboot-Proof Fix and Speed Demon Mode! - xda-developers
I installed the SpeedDemon zip file one only. Should I install the original zip file too? Is that my problem?

If you read though the thread, it mentions needing a compatible kernel. Have you flashed a custom kernel or ROM yet, or are you still on stock?

If you are still on stock, try flashing either the genocide or twilight kernels (or any one for the build/modem you are on).

So just having the phone rooted will not make the patch work? I have to either flash a ROM or kernel first? Could you please give me a link to where I can flash a compatible kernel? Thanks.

[KERNEL][GPL]Genocide EC05 Kernel v1.1|1.4GhzOC|RomManager|CustomUV|Voodoo 6/15/2011 - xda-developers

[Kernel][ACS][GPL] Twilight Zone Kernel v1.1.0 - Hajime-kun - xda-developers

The keyboard patch has an adjustable delay. It shows the links in the first link to the threads talking about how to do it.
