It's expensive, heavy, large and over the top for a phone.

It weighs well over twice what the phone weighs so that would be a bit of a pain. It also has a huge battery, which may seem useful but unless you are planning to be away from a power source for 4-5 days at a time, it strikes me that you are paying a penalty in terms of weight and price for no real benefit.

I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Portable...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item1c18dd47ba which effectively doubles the battery life on my phone, which is more than enough. It weighs 80g (vs 280) and is physically very small.

Alternatively, why not just buy an additional battery? They only cost about

I'll look into it.

Just hope that battery lasts.

I have bought a few batteries on eBay (three phone batteries and two batteries for my DSLR) and they have all been cheap and just as good as the originals. Perhaps this power pack won't last forever, but it's much cheaper than the power pack you were thinking of buying so even if it doesn't, I haven't lost a lot of money.

There are a lot cheaper options on eBay as well (some of them less than

is that made by samsung or a third party?

If you mean the one I posted a link to, it's made by a third party.

It's a generic charger and will charge anything that can be charged from a USB socket although it would be short of juice for something like a tablet. The one the OP posted really looks like it's aimed at tablets not phones.

I ordered one of these from Expansys.ca also picked up a dock from them. Looks like the Power Pack is not released yet. A lot of uk sites show this as "coming soon" so it might be out in time for the Canada launch. I have the S2 on Rogers now...FAST!! You will love the phone!! The battery life of the phone has been great for me...its been lasting longer than my iPhone 4. It lasts me the whole day and sometimes even two days.

How do you like the dock? Worth it for you?

i use this, it is very small thin and has everything built into the case to charge phone and recharge itself

Amazon.com: Kensington K38056US Pocket Battery for SmartPhones (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

while charging phone it lays flat against the back of the phone it doesn't hang off the bottom like some other chargers

It's nice and cheap but the reviews don't look too great. Two reviewers couldn't charge their phones at all and the capacity is only 1500mAH which is not enough to recharge the phone fully. Since the SGS2 has a 1650mAH battery, the external battery needs to be comfortably more than this fully to recharge the phone.

Still, it is very cheap and at least Kensington is a name brand and you'll get a bit more assurance that it won't pack in after a week.
