Root My experience with using Hardware Acceleration and saving battery

Hey guys I just wanted to share my samsung prevail (rooted phone with shabbymod slim 0.8) experience with blade buddy (for rooted phones) and set cpu (also for rooted phones).

Blade buddy is an app made by the same makers of spare parts they advertised it in the software and I decided to check it out. I grabbed it and it had a couple options I really didnt understand or really cared about. But I notice the first option is hardware acceleration, I turned it on, and there is a difference in speed on my phone. What I notice:

- My sketchbook mobile almost runs as smooth as a 1ghz phone running it.

- In Magic Drop Touch, All lags of touch screen controls from making combos are gone.

- I seen a jump in frames in 3-d engine games, raging thunder 2 ran a bit smoother.

- My call buttons dont have a problem with not responding sometimes during calls or leaving a message on someone answering machine.

Of course the cost of this is that your battery will drain faster.

So I decided to give setcpu a try. I set up my processor to go low under 200mhz when not in use. And to raise up to 800 when in use. The phone stops around 450 mhz when scrolling through menus. And uses the 800 when it really needs it.

Battery has been lasting a very long time. I also turn off my 3g manually when I dont need it. And I use my Gemini app manager to block of some programs I don't need and any programs that may be running in the background taking up ram or sound.

I dont know if hardware acceleration will wear out the phone or setcpu will wear it out the processor, But I'm enjoying my new speed and don't want to go back.

So the whole point is, if you have a rooted phone and want your phone processor to work a bit harder while still having good battery life (by only using full power when needed), Try blade buddy and setcpu together.

I recommend it for people who play games, create music or draw by reducing or removing any lag all together.

u using blade buddy free or paid? on free i get an no superuser error and i do have root my other superuser apps work great

also i bought paid one and it says cant read board type????????

Sometimes when you get that error it helps to clear the superuser shortlist and delete the data for both superuser and the app causing the problem then try again.

I dont know what your thinking man. The kernel doesn't allow overclocking. So setcpu is just wasting space. Not sure about hardware acceleration. But setcpu is doing absolutely nothing - placebo affect?

set cpu can underclock, which if done correctly can save battery life.

I do not use set cpu any longer though as I found it just is a running process that takes up juice.

To activate the Hardware Acceleration, you check debug.sf.hw
I also activated media.stagefright.enable-player, media.stagefright.enable-meta, and media.stagefright.enable-scan. They have to something to do with how the phone streams media. There is another one, media.stagefright.enable-http which the apps creator recommend leaving deactivated as it is part of why manufacturers disabled these features to begin with. It is supposed to be glitchy when using the Youtube app as well as other streaming media so I left it off. I will likely try it eventually but I will want full confidence in my backups before I do. ;-)
