Root Crazy high display battery usage???

Hey guys, I have a Droid Incredible running gingerbread 2.3.4 on Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable, using Incredikernel 2.6.38.8. I installed the "very agressive" voltage tweak from the incredikernel.com downloads section. CPU is set to 245 min/1075 max using the SMARTASS governor. I'm using Juice Defender Ultimate and it has been working wonderfully to decrease my battery usage between 3G and WiFi. However, it seems my display is eating up my battery despite all these modifications. My battery is at about 5 percent remaining after 8 and a half hours. The display has used 73 percent?!?! Cell standby is at 6 percent, android system: 5%, phone idle: 5%, browser: 3%, Wi-Fi: 2%, Android OS: 2%, and Maps: 2%. What the heck am I doing wrong that my display percentage is so high??? Or is it something to do with my configuration I'm currently running? I've read though the forums that others running configs similar to mine are able to pull close to 24 hours of usage time under heavy strain. What can I change to get my phone to last that long??

For what it's worth, I always see high apparent display usage with CM7, but my battery life is better than with Sense ROMs. I've never seen a definitive explanation for the issue, but I'm not sure I believe the display percentage reading. When you troubleshoot, I'd suggest worrying more about the actual battery life.

There was a thread/fix over at xda for the high display usage. I'll see if I can locate it.

It seems to be a common problem with AOSP roms and not sure how much it actually effects battery life.
I mainly think that with cm7, everything else uses less battery than on other roms, so now the display is using comparatively more.

I'm less concerned with how much each individual task uses. I'd just like to know how to configure my phone so I can get the most out of the battery. Others claim they can listen to music for 4 hours, stream NFL mobile for an hour and a half, and use navigation with GPS for an hour-long car ride and still have half their battery left by the end of the day. What can I change to make my phone more efficient?

Those people are most likely using an extended battery(or exaggerating), there is no way to tweak your phone to make a 1300 ma battery to perform like a 2750 or even a 1500, without severely crippling performance.

2-4 hours of actual phone use is about average for the stock battery, obviously depending what you are doing during that time and your signal level.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification. With that said, is there any way I could increase my battery life by changing my configuration or settings? I'm fairly new to rooting at custom ROMs/kernels/overclocking and all that.

the easiest way is to flash a kernel that is undervolted, and then underclock your cpu. "lou's" kernel is usually recommended.

The other ways to increase battery life are to turn off wifi/bluetooth when not using it, turn your display brightness down, and put your phone into airplane mode when in a no reception area/ turn off background data when in low reception areas(or turn off "mobile data" completely.
