Create a DROID folder on your PC ... and start archiving files in sub-folders. While you're at it, create HowTo documents along the way (in each folder) so you can refer to them later on. I also use them to answer questions on the forum, or in PMs.

You folks don't actually think I remember all of this code, do ya? ;)
so then yes, we can delete it off the SD Card and just keep a copy on the PC?

Sorry, I was just being efficient and using few words.

I always delete those update.zip's, tar.gz's, .img's, and anything else.

Like messenger13 said, they are no longer needed once you have them do their thing. And more importantly, you WANT to delete them (or at least move them) so you don't accidently run them again! ;)

The bad thing about this whole "update.zip" method that the DROID uses to update a ROM is that ... the filename never changes. Meaning, one must make separate folders and take good notes to keep track of all these "update.zip" files. A good thing to do is simply rename the file as soon as you boot the DROID up for the first time, then archive it to your PC immediately.

Some people just delete these files, but I don't. Why? You can't rely on some of these sites being around forever. One of the major DROID sites got hacked a couple weeks ago and of these types of files went bye-bye. But take one guess who still has the files he wants? ;)

Even better, use nandroid. Then you don't have to save all sorts of various updates and rom's and whatnot. Just back up your device instead after applying various updates/roms/whatever. Name the nandroid backups accordingly, of course!

Though it is always a good idea to keep notes on your pc along with the various files you've downloaded/used. Even if you don't need the file again, at least you can give it to your friends or fellow forum members. :D
