Help Ear Speaker problem

I have a Desire hd and had no problems until now...
When i make a call i have to put the loud speaker on to hear the other person..
I can play music etc its just the above problem.
I tried a 3rd party repair as it was only a couple of days as it was anything over 10days via 3g,so at first they put a new speaker in but 2 days later it did the same again so they tried again and still the same but they say its an intermittent problem and cant repair it....
this happened after the HTc update..

any ideas chaps

Welcome to the forums!

Out of interest, you said you tried a 3rd party repair... why not direct through HTC/your mobile operator? If it is down to the Update, then surely HTC should fix it for you?

Hmm... not sure what to suggest... I'm sure that someone will give you some advice though!

any way after much deliberation i phoned HTC UK and explained the situation, their advice was to do a factory reset........
If this does not solve the problem ring them for a repair..

I have a major problem will i lose everything on my phone, my sim and my sd card..
If so what do i do to keep all my info.....

Factory reset does not affect the SD card, only the phone.

Apps are "backed up" via the market... when you reset yuour phone, go to the market, press "menu" and then select "My apps" and you should be able to re-download your apps.

Phone numbers can be synched with Gmail - always worth doing... something I found out the hard way.

Text messages can be backed up using one of the many apps you can get off the market (don't actually use any, so can't suggest any to you)

Generally, nothing gets saved to your sim card but, as with the SD card, a factory reset shouldn't affect it!

EDIT - if you are worried... take the SD card and the sim card out of the phone before you do the reset!
