My hearing is poor (hearing impairment both ears), but I never had a problem with being able to hear my Blackberry 8530. I have adjusted all of my settings. What's odd is that the volume when listening to music via headphones is just fine (wife says it's too loud), but both she and I agree that something is wrong with the speaker. I wonder if a a customized rom would even be able to fix something like this. Stuff like this should not be happening with a $299 phone.

I agree, media, navigation and most other volumes are fine but in call an speakerphone volumes suck. But so far for me not bad enough to disuade me. But I also have had none of the issues others have complained of. Nine runs like a dream...

I have the Phonak hearing aides that I got with government assistance 3 years ago. Well, one of them works. Anyway, most of the time when I use the phone I have to take out the hearing aide, and right now I use the Rocketfish ITE earbuds.

IT's worth mentioning that I just bought a BOSE speaker system so that I can pump up the volume while at work.

FWIW, I have had good success with a fairly inexpensive BT Audio Receiver purchased off eBAY (simply enter the search: a2dp bluetooth receiver)

This small device allows you to plug in a pair of amplified computer speakers. Sound is excellent! When at home I use it for Pandora, TuneIn, and listening to my .MP3s, or watching .MP4s. Hey, I haven't tried it when using Netflix :D

Guess I'll try.

There are programs that adjust the DAC volume on the Nook Color if you are rooted. I'm not suggesting to root your phone, just that there's the possibility a SW upgrade may give us more adjustability. Why not log into the Motorola Owner's Forum and enter a post on your experience?

Stef7, I'll give it some thought. In the meantime I have bigger issues with my health. What was a sore throat back in April (after going on a trip underground to a cave in New York) has turned into a throat full of ulcers that look like a hotbed for a yeast infection. Around the clock I'm numbing throat with lozenges, sprays, lidocaine, another medicine that is even stronger than the lidocaine. My theory is that the stomach pains, and occasional sour taste in my throat, were acid reflux eating away at my esophagus. My hearing sucks, but at the moment I'm worried about this other crap. Sorry to give you the bad news. I'll be getting an endoscopy done next week, and tomorrow will be seeing the ENT again. Next week I'll also be seeing an Infectious Disease Specialist. I HOPE that someone can get to the bottom of this, that I can move on from here and that I can spend more time worrying about silly issues like broken speakers on overpriced smartphones (I bought the thing, so I'm not complaining, LOL!!!).
