EVO 4G to nexus?

I have a EVO 4g and am eligible for a upgrade. I can use my upgrade and get a photon, but I don't know if its all that better (i don't game). I really would like to change up my phone....

I can sell my EVO and get a brand new nexus for 70 more, without using my Sprint upgrade.....

Should I?

Judging by your sig "Next: Waiting to see if Sprint bites fruit this fall.", then you should probably save your upgrade for what you're waiting for. So with that being said, if you really want a new phone, and like the nexus, then yeah it seems like that would be a good move for you cuz it will get you what you want, and save your upgrade at the same time.

There's also the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch coming out on the 16th, which features a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 4.5 inch Super AMOLED + display, and 8mp digitial camera with video recording capabilities at 1080p.

I would agree with those that say to wait for the GS2E4GT (too long of a name). I am upgrading in two weeks, and would take the Nexus over the Evo 3d or Photon, but cant take it over the galaxy s2. If the upgrade price is not an issue, than I would take the galaxy s2. However, if your budget is limited, than the Nexus is the best out there for the money.

My humble opinion.

I decided to go with the NS4G. Out of pocket cost was ~$50. I now have a phone with 12 month warranty, a new device to play with and am still upgrade eligible .

I didn't want to blow my upgrade on the Photon (yukky screen) or the EVO3D and I have no desire for the SGSIIE4GT tablet...er phone .

Any tips on my first "non-sense" Android?

Any tips on my first "non-sense" Android?

Yeah... Enjoy it! I went Evo 4g to NS4g because of a broken screen. I was a little concerned because, while it IS an upgrade, I wasn't certain if it would be a big jump like my previous upgrades have been. Suffice to say, I'm glad I went with the NS4g. I bought online and picked up in store. Paid $30. I feel like it was a good deal.

The screen alone is a HUGE step up from the Evo. I have a brighness widget I sometimes forget about til mid day when I'm looking at the phone and frustrated that I can't see anything... Then I remember the brightness is at it's lowest setting! A single bump and it's brighter and more clear than my Evo ever was. Color is amazing on this phone, too.

I rooted, but there certainly wasn't the same level of need to root on the NS4g as there was on the Evo.

Have I mentioned how fast this thing is? Well, I will now. It's FAST. No lag between screens, apps start quicker and run better, start up/shut down and reboots happen in THE BLINK OF AN EYE. (And I had my Evo running pretty quickly, or so I thought.)

The other thing is, It's really light. It disappears in my pocket in a way the Evo never quite did. Some folks say the build quality seems cheap. I get that... I loved how the Evo felt like a serious piece of equipment. The NS4g sure doesn't feel like it would do the same damage if I chucked it at someone, but then again... IT'S A PHONE!!! Throwing it is generally bad.

So there ya go. Tweak to your hearts content. Enjoy Android the way Google intended. Get a case and a screen protector to keep her shiny. Oh! Download "NoLED" from the market, cause for some reason Samsung saw fit to include NO LED notification on this phone. That was my sole issue with the device until I found NoLED.

Have fun.

edit-
After having this phone for a couple weeks, I wonder if anyone will tempt me away from this "pure google experience". I plan to stick with the Nexus (in whatever form it takes) for quite some time.

^I found a brand new, never used, Nexus S on Craigslist for $250, talked him down to $220. Sprint said the warranty follows the phone and I'd be covered by them (without the insurance fee) until September 2012 (at the Sprint store) against manufacturer defects. I bought it and called them to activate it while I was still with the seller. It activated fine and everything checked out.

Just yesterday, I sold my EVO with a couple of accessories (cases, chargers, nothing major) on Craigslist for $220. (very large pics embedded in the ad got it sold in less than 24 hours)

So, in actuality, I paid nothing to swap. Sure, I could have gotten the Photon for $100 and pocketed the $120, but I figure this way, I'll be able to sell my Nexus in the next 12 months for at least $150...and if something better hits Sprint, I can snatch it up! :)
