display and sound off during the call

Remember this is a smartphone with a very sensitive touchscreen. The proximity sensor switches the screen off as soon as you hold it to your ear so you do not hang up or dial another number with your ear or cheek. If you want to look at the screen move the phone away from your ear and the screen will switch back on.

Which speaker do you mean? The loudspeaker on the back of the phone or the small (quieter) speaker on the front that you hold to your ear?

When I hold the phone to my ear I only hear sound from the speaker on the front that I am holding to my ear, just like any other phone. If I want to use the loudspeaker I just answer and then turn the phone upside down. To do that go into settings > sound and tick the box for it. Or tap the loudspeaker icon while you are on the call.

If it is the small speaker at the front that is not coming on then I don't know - you may have a faulty phone.
