For Downgrading, or putting Stock rom on

Don't laugh if I sound like a total noob, but after I mistakenly downloaded the update off the Metro site (and lost perfectly good root) I tried to downgrade my Optimus M with the files/method in this thread. I got to the part where I had to input my SPC, did that, and then I got an error in a .dll file.

Here is the exact error message I got:

ERROR: Unable to load [LGNPST_Utility5.dll] Component Path = Version = HR = 0x80040154

How could I get around that? I even turned off user account control as the last poster suggested.
after turning off user account control and rebooting computer you need to drag the dll file to the reggie file, its listed as a step in installing lgnpst.

That might also be caused by your antivirus messing up the install
uninstall lgnpst and turn off the antivirus then install again, with a reboot between each and every component you install.

Hello fellow Optimus M owners.. After much downloading and poking around these forums, I can in no way get my phone to be able to use service, no matter what stock ROM I use or prl. I used the OPTIMUS M STOCK ROM.7z listed in the above posters post but my phone will not accept any programming codes via ##626* to activate my service. I used another one from another post and it does the same thing. If these ROMs really are stock, why can't my Optimus M be progammed to work again? Thanks!

Your programming is on a different partittion, and if you managed to 00000 out your meid your not going to be able to activate it at all.

lucky though there is a way to get service back and reprogram the meid.

First I would go to menu about settings and check your meid if it is 00000's then you would want to follow

i read anothers thread around here and people are flashing this new prl 3022 on the LG Otimus M some of those say that it come on the samsung admire already (but is 4G) and people is getting 3G on the Optimus M with that update , so the question is that update can be an expansion ?? cause i usually got 3G just in town , i live in sacramento ca.

sorry for my bad english =[

The admire is a 3g phone, not 4g. That simple misunderstanding out of the way, a 4g phone also uses 3g if 4g is not available.

the prl is just a list of cell towers that are preferred to use it will tell the phone that x tower is up and running and to use it. and it can even tell the phone that y tower is old and no longer in service.
What is happening is metro is replacing transmitters in towers and the prl tells the phone that a new tower is available. that tower has the evdo network which is why your phone then picks up 3g signal.
And as to your question yes the prl is the expanded towers.

I would like to thank joneidy for his great information and posting the files needed.
If you have 2.2.2 then you need to downgrade, use lgnpst
The 2.2.1 rom you need from joneidy's unbrick thread
OPTIMUS M STOCK ROM.7z

And this is my problem. All stock 2.2.1 roms I've downloaded has caused lgnst to say The file is empty when placed in the bin selection.

as you can see that download has .7zip extension it needs to be extracted an inside is the .bin file.

If you know this and that isnt the problem then i am unsure what your having trouble with.

I extract it fine.
2 separate occasions:

1). I downloaded 7zip and extracted it from 7 zip. Tried it. Still says the file path is empty.
2). I used winrar and extracted it again. Still says the file is empty.

If I am correct isnt the extracted bin file around 305 mb?

this is probably the wrong place to post this...but does anyone know if 2.2.2 is going to be rooted at all? I did the downgrade method successfully but it just seems like alot of peeps are having major problems with it...such as zeroing out their meid and shit. im just basically asking on behalf of the people debating on taking the risk if just waiting for 2.2.2 to be rooted will be worth their while.

If you follow this guide downgrading is no problem.

I definately know that lol...thats why i had no problem downgrading myself. I was just refering to the peeps that are having problems. Especially with LGNPST and having administrator rights and registering the dll file and such. I know that there are peeps trying to wait it out until there is a one click root for 2.2.2. I just wanted to know if anyone was working on rooting it?

If you can't figure out how to disable UAC and register the .dll, you should PAY someone who does or live with a stock phone.

I knew nothing of Android as of March of this year. Thanks to reading this forum I can compile my own damn roms now. If someone is too lazy to learn they need to pay someone that took the time to learn to do it for them.
