It seems to me that Motorola did not intend for this phone to be used as a camera. The camera sux and so does the stock gallery. Just sayin.

And I already know that it is a "phone" not a camera. But when people are basically making it an extension of their arm they expect it to work in all the ways its supposed to. Who wants to carry around a phone, laptop and camera?

This is definitely a problem with android phone builders. The only one that seems to be trying to get it right is Samsung. Hence the reason the GS2 is selling like hot cakes.

Android phone builders should take a page from Samsung and Apple. The things that people want a phone to do well it should do well: make calls, Internet, camera, etc... Should be mandatory.

You make these statements like they are facts ... when the fact is, they are opinions. I've already been complimented on some of the pics I've posted on facebook with my Bionic. Just last night, me and two friends took the same pic using 3 different phones. An iPhone 4, a Blackberry, and my Bionic. My pic was the clear winner, hands down.

Maybe your phone has a defect. Or maybe you just can't take good pics. Having a steady hand at the time the pic is taken is crucial. Because this phone is so light, that can be difficult to accomplish.

This is my 2nd one. Tech support tried to fix it, even pulled out the one he had there and couldn't figure it out.
I'm not the only one complaining. Its just a shitty camera. I have had camera phones since they came out so I have messed with a few and this is pretty bad for 8 megapixels.

IMO, in low light the pictures are lousy (lack of color and LOTS of noise).

In bright light, the pictures look pretty darn good, considering it's a cell phone. ( I shoot mostly with a Nikon D5100, btw, so I know what good images look like. :) ) Having said that, my crummy Storm 2 takes better pics than the Bionic.

I don't understand why some people get so pissed when others talk about a negative on the Bionic. Yes, "the camera sucks" is an opinion. So is the "I've been complimented on my pics so you must be a crappy picture-taker".

Almost everyone who's taken pictures with the Bionic agree that they suck. They are washed out. Can you take a nice picture on a sunny day with a subject that is not moving and you have the hand steadiness of a cadaver? Yes. But phones should have cameras that take great pics under most conditions, not just under perfect ones.

I am not getting pissy as you say, but it is a phone and not a camera, the camera on phones is designed as a convenience for snapshots ans emergencies nothing more, if you want quality pictures you get a CAMERA that's what they are manufactured for and if you notice they do not make phone calls very well either.

I have to disagree with this. We should expect a good camera on a expensive-as-hell phone. If this phone had a music player, a movie player, or web browser as shitty as its camera, people would be returning it in droves. People wouldn't say "well music, movies, and web browsing isn't a phone's main component, that's why you have an iPod, a TV, and a computer."

Shitty camera = you getting jipped.

I use my iPhone camera all the time. It is very convenient to have a great camera on a phone. Shots are taken that I never would have had a camera for. I like others hoped this phone would have a great camera.

So I will be waiting for an LTE phone with with a great camera. GS2 with LTE would have filled that need, but Verizon chose not to go that route.

Ok I hear you but i bought a phone and I am a photographer so when i want great pictures I use My professional camera (which I carry constantly), anything else its a snapshot for me and this camera does fine for incidentals FOR ME, the phone and the internet functions is what I was after and it meets and surpasses my expectations there.
