edit: i figured it out! duhh! :p it was her gmail with 900+ contacts being pulled onto the phone. i told her she needs to either clean up her gmail or start anew - saving contacts on her phone.

a friend asked me to take a look at her new HTC Rhyme from Verizon. im not quite familiar with this new phone but the 'People' (Contacts) are showing up multiple times. some 5x some even more!?! i dont really know how to go about it. maybe deleting the duplicates... but that would be tedious. i was hoping someone can help me. thanks in advance!

There is an easy way to remove all those extra contacts. You simply follow these steps:
(1) go to contacts (people)
(2)then click the menu button
(3) then click more
(4) click linked contacts
(5) then unclick the Link all at the top (this may take a few mintues depending on the # of contacts you have)
(6) once its done you should no long have multiple contacts

Also at the top of your contacts/people it pulls down if you eve want to sync all those contacts back
To just have the ones that were in your phone only phone should be checked
