Why not more excitement over 5 home screens for stock users?

I know this is becoming quite a root-centric forum, but for us non-rooters, I think getting 5 home screens will be the biggest upgrade in 2.1. It hasn't been confirmed though so as soon as someone finds out, LET US KNOW!

If we get all the multi-touch + 2.1 Gallery + 5 home screens I will be a very happy camper.

For me the screen numbers don't really matter because i am the kind of person who hates a cluttered desktop on my computer and the same goes for my phone. I have the bare essentials on my screens and a have a hard time as it is using up the 3 stock screens they give us let alone the 5 that BB 7.4 gives me. I hate the thought of putting widgets all over the place too because i dont want anything killing my battery more than it needs to be as i feel like the constant updating would do. If i need an application its just one swipe away in my apps drawer and that way nothing stays running when i dont want it to.

Honestly, I hope there is much more than this. I am more hopeful of the things that may not be readily visible, ie under the hood stuff. I have had a few strange glitches that I hope are taken care of related to the battery among other things.

In addition improved battery life, improved performance and stability are what I am hoping for.

That being said, I am very excited to see 2.1 rolled out.

I want a glitch free smooth experience with no lag. I am presently stock and I have a little lag between screen and icons. If the new update irons this out I would be happier. As of right now nobody knows exactly what the update will include or exclude there really is no reason to get excited or disappointed right now. I can do without the live wallpapers and other gimmicks for an improved user interface and smoother screen transitions which I know is very possible. I downloaded "3" media player from rock on and that is extremely smooth and quick and it is still in testing stage.

I don't know if maybe i'm just weird but I only use one screen?

Well two, kind of.

On my main screen I have Beautiful Widgets Smaller home, the "new" stock news widget, and then i have four icons along the bottom; phone handcent browser and the brightness level widget.

On the second screen I just have the power widget. I use home++ so I guess the bottom bar adds a little extra functionality, but even before I used that I always thought it was so easy to just pull open the app drawer I never put many things on my home screen...

What kind of things do you guys put on your home screens?

I'm still not sure why more people haven't rooted yet. My phone is now faster (overclocked), has the five home screens, 2.1 gallery, pinch zoom, multi touch browser, wifi tether, and so on. It's not like you guys can't go back to factory settings.
ROOT YOUR DROIDS!!!!!!!

Whoa....

I know what you're saying but I'm betting there are alot of people that you just can't make this simple enough for. I am a 'techie' and being new to android...things didn't always work the way I expected them to. All I'm saying is that some people are probably lucky to turn the droid on and check their gmail. For example...Setting up pop email is simple business but do a search and see how many people are having issues setting up yahoo or aol... :)
