Getting the Razr because its here now?

Hey everyone Droid Virgin here, but highly computer literate (Have degrees, is my livelihood, yada yada). I've been reading up the last year, notably since August when I became eligible to upgrade. Thought I'd give a little perspective from a "Non-Smartphone" guy.

I got a chance to check out the RAZR today. HANDS DOWN most impressive phone I've ever held. Snappy, bright screen, fast browsing, easy to text, and all the other configuration that is android. I would be VERY happy with this phone. It's no Bionic which took all of 30 seconds to NOT be impressed! Did I mention the phone actually qualifies for the word beautiful? All while being light and solid at the same time.
Welcome to the forums and great first post.

You are a smart man in regards to why you are buying now. Nothing is perfect, RAZR is beautiful and fast, there will always be newer "better" devices, good dual core will remain relevant for some time and ICS and Jellybean will eventually find their way onto the handset.

You have the perfect mindset and outlook to survive in the Android world. It's going to be great to have you here.

Again, welcome!

Well then we need to all get together then cuz over here nobody talks about phones.

I'd get you into fighting shape too :) creatine, beta alanine and NO.

Great pump, great endurance and some fierce strength gains.
Does this mean come Friday I'll be getting the freakin' beta alanine tingles? Man, I hate the tingles but love what they do.

So this phone will set my skin on fire.

@ NuSkoolTone....

Welcome to the Party my man!

Glad you liked the Razr, it'll should deff do the Job in keeping you busy as it will be your 1st smart phone!

However...being in the world of computers you may get hooked rather quickly and start getting into the root side of things and tinkering and what not!

If that's the case

Keep a close watch on the Nexus release
; )

I have a feeling we'll be seeing plenty of you...

Either way....You can't go wrong with one or the other when your speaking about the Razr or the GNex...both will be awesome.

lol the tingles! pretty wicked good stuff. I mix it with creatine monohydrate for the perfect cocktail.

BTW you can order it off Supplement Direct for dirt cheap. 500grams for $18.00. Pure Beta Alanine.

Great company with fast service. Their own products are really good. I buy my Creatine and Beta Alanine from them.

*Supplement Direct* CREATINE MONOHYDRATE (MICRONIZED) 1000 GRAMS

*Supplement Direct* BETA-ALANINE 500 GRAMS

Got mine and for the time being I.have no regrets.

Call quality is superb.
Screen is very nice.
Build quality best ever.
Speed amazing.

The only gripe is I was unable to root it with methods posted online. I was in a rush so when I have more time I will retry.

[sarcasm]No no no. Didn't you read the reviews? You immediately regret buying this phone and not waiting for The GNext Big Thing. I've never actually held one, but I'm sure it's terribly bad.[/sarcasm]

Adds a whole new meaning to feel the burn.

I will say this--not to pick on the Gnex crowd, but our off topic blathering is way more entertaining.
Those poor people are still at it every day repeating themselves lol

It's like groundhog day in there. They still speculate, post links to world events and try and decipher them as code for the Nexus release and on and on and on :)

I don't know how some of them have not gone mad with all the monotony lol

*use best robotic voice and read out loud. If you can't use a robotic voice just speak in a monotone voice with zero emotion*

"It's not pure Google and has Verizon bloat. It has a locked bootloader. It will not be updated right away. Ice Cream sandwich will not run on it because it's not made for it, It has soft buttons on it it's behind, We love our nexus and all other Android phones are no good. Follow us. We are the Galaxy Nexus crowd and our phone is pure Google. Pure Google is the best and we have the Pure Google. Your'e RAZR does not have Pure Google so it's not good but our Nexus does have Pure Google so it is much better. Our bootloader is unlocked too so we have Pure Google and unlocked bootloader which you don't have. Come with us on our Pure Google phone. It is the phone to have."

yeah, peeps are getting a little "punchy" over there - probly from all of the hype, and the roller coaster of release dates. i just want the dang GNex to come out so that i can compare it to the RAZR and finally make a decision on my next phone.

one of the intriguing things to me (not necessarily a selling point, but just intriguing) is the pent-up demand for the GNex. i think the anticipation/desire for the GNex is starting to equal, if not surpass, the anticipation for the Bionic and Blunderbolt. that kind of excitement has never been seen for a Nexus device. it's good for Google/VZW/Sammy, but i don't think they had any idea it would reach these levels. i have my concerns, but i hope that it comes close to living up to the hype (given the level of hype, i don't think it could ever completely live up to it).

saw on DL that you guys may be getting your RAZRs tomorrow from pre-order - really looking forward to hearing your experience with the device! (i just hope there's a single, release/initial impressions thread - there are just too many threads to keep up with in this subforum. :) as a further aside, it's interesting to see how the different subforums seem to take on a personality all their own...)

Just pop in this Thread..I'm sure they'll be plenty of Ohhh Yea I got my Razr because I wanted it right now Reviews...

I'll be posting my review in here, and Cereal will prob drop in to tell his tale as well.

Makes no sense to have 6 Billion threads about Reviews , but the mods usually do an excellent job of merging those types of threads together.

I'm 100% new to Android, but to the people saying that the Razr is going to get dropped, I don't believe that Moto will drop it strictly because it is a Razr. That name means something to people and it's going to sell well this year and who knows how long. I just don't see them dropping the Razr after bringing the brand back, but what do I know?

a lot

The original RAZR is an icon. It doesn't matter if one likes the device or not its about resurrecting a brand. They didn't name the phone the HD they gave it a very well known and distinct name. Everyone knows it. Its obvious they wanted to make this a one of a kind handset and market the heck out of it. They certainly achieved that.

The RAZR is here to stay and the support for it will go on long into its life. I've said it before I'll say it again. Its easily a 2 year phone whether you keep it or not.
