I don't think so. . . . .nope. I'm decisive on the most important things in life: who I married, what I do for a living, what dogs I have, and what I want to eat.

Gadgets, motorcycles, and vacations? I'm extremely wishy washy. It drives my wife nuts.

Sounds like you did pretty well with the bike. Ducati 848 is a sweet ride. :D

They must be pretty pissed at Amazon for selling the RAZR to new customers for $111 then ;)

Actually they wouldn't mind that because it get them NEW customers...

Besides, my point was they're trying to get rid of their stock of RAZRs,

The reality is the GN is considered a geek phone by most. They could care less about those of us in this thread :( Why? because we'll wait... we might not "want" to, we might whine and cry, but in the end we'll wait.....

I'm not saying the GN won't sell well to the "average" person, but the reason "we" want the phone won't matter to a lot of people...

Off topic:

I love it! I'm just disappointed that the riding season is pretty much over. I really was going between that and the Diavel. . .I don't spend money on cars, I spend it on bikes. The Diavel was a bit too much out of my range, though, as far as my wife is concerned. :(

On topic:

I hope that the SGN is released soon!

I really agreed with this line of thought recently, but after thinking about it, wouldn't the SGN really hold its own in a store against the RAZR and ReHound?

No buttons - cool and futuristic looking.

HD Screen that's bigger than the ReHound.

Vanilla Android doesn't look vanilla anymore. It's got a cool Tron theme.

I think it will appeal to average customers, as well. The past Nexus devices have looked ho-hum and the real benefit to them was the geek/dev appeal. Now, that's not really the case. It looks like an SGSII with no buttons and HD resolution.

i Think the SGN is going to sell like the OG Droid did, once people get them (granted everything works well with ICS) and start showing other people and for what you mentioned above....they will sell to the average consumer as well.

If I remember right everyone was saying this about the Incredible too and we see how that went. That phone set the bar for all the phones that followed it. I do think Verizon underestimated the Incredible though.

No Buttons...to the average consumer they will say that is the same as any HTC phone that doesn't have "real" buttons or the bionic/razr that has similar soft keys

Hd Screen that is bigger than the ReZound. ...i'll give you that one but is .35 of an inch going to matter?

Vanilla Android.....there is not an average consumer out there that probably even knows what that is.

To me the G NEx looks like a bigger version of the Nexus S

i agree that the reason people on this Forum will buy the G Nex doesn't mean anything to the average consumer

I think it will hold against the other actually...

If you put all 3 together the average consumer will probably choose based on their "gut". that is part of why I made the original comment.

VZW had to choose MONTHS ago how many of each phone they were going to buy. Given their actions over the last month my "guess" is they bought a BUNCH more RAZRs then GN's or even Rezounds. Given all three sell about the same once their released. VZW wants to draw down thier stock of RAZRs before the other two start selling...

the LAST thing they want is the GN to sell out, it creates a false sense of demand that could lead to one of those "freak" phenomena like Cabbage patch dolls... etc...

I didn't mean it in that sense. It's not the VZW favors the RAZR... It favors selling off stock and getting the best possible price for it... If VZW is stuck sitting on a bunch of RAZR's it wants to get rid of them before it brings in more phones... This is why they were pushing the Bionic so hard the past couple months...

Then they should've delayed the launch of the RAZR if we're using your logic, right?

So slightly off topicish but to all the people with OG Droids what are you gonna do with them when the gloriuosness of the Nexus arrives? I'm trying to find a ROM so I can turn it into a straight forward music player for a kid but I haven't had much success.

BTW I'm very worried about my OG. He's been very distant lately and not interested in things he used to be. This morning I found a small noose made of dental floss in the bathroom. I think a firm release date would give him something to continue for. Help him Verizon, you're his only hope.

1. Agreed - normal consumers won't notice the no buttons because of capacitive & disappearing buttons on some devices.

2. That's what she said.

5. I think word of mouth will sell this phone a lot though.

If they could have they probably would have (to sell more Bionics), but nothing happens in a vacuum, We're getting into serious holiday season. You can only push things so far... in fact whats to say they didn't? maybe the RAZR was originally white-boarded to launch early November?

Would you consider getting a Droid Razr over the Nexus if Verizon offered the Razr for $50 when you return your original droid and sign a 2 year contract?

PS while I was writing this my OG droid just reset itself, which it doesn't do very often. Maybe it knows I'm chatting about new phones.

Personally, i don't have a droid, (Dinc'er). But, no, of course I'm one of the crazy masses in this thread :p

Though I agree that average customers don't know or care about vanilla android. I think that's changing with ICS going forward. Just look at honeycomb tablets this year. Most of them come with just vanilla HC as it has enough widgets, themes and nice UI already. Google probably intends to do the same on phones with ICS, so custom UI no longer gets in the way of updating and minimize fragmentation. So I don't get the notion that vanilla ICS won't appeal to average customers and actually it would be opposite I think.

at this point.....no way im getting anything other then the gnex I just know I will have buyers remorse if i can't wait another few weeks. Plus i am running a Dinc with go launcher and Cm7.1 and its running great so i have nothing to complain about.

IF this, IF that.... Better not to deal in IF(s)

A good friend of mine works at an outsourced customer service call center. Verizon is one company that uses this call center to handle their incoming customer service phone traffic. As a result, the employees need to be familiar with the products and software. He sent me a message today saying that they've just received training materials on Ice Cream Sandwich. Nothing more definitive than that, but still worth sharing.

I don't think that any single android phone will sell as well as the OG droid. When the Droid was first introduced, it was the only real iphone competior on VZW and after the failure that was the Storm, people at Verizon were dying for something new. Now there are bucket loads of smartphone options just in the Android ecosystem. The galaxy line of phones are selling very very well, but even there, no single model comes close to the numbers the iphone or droid put up.
