ADB manual root doesn't work anymore?

Back to the topic while I say I'm keeping the Tbolt now I said the same thing about my Droid Eris...I ate my words pretty quickly then and will probably do the same again...well I still have the Eris lol as a nice paper weight.

Correct the exploit used with it was patched with the GB update

Does that mean that rooted phones pre GB should be more valuable?!?! I'm debating on whether I'm going to give my family member the TB rooted or let them just go through the phone's typical updates. I figure if I give it to them rooted then I'm going to have to help them with the phone every time it crashes.

Don't think so, you are locked into your contract until 20 months then you can upgrade at the contract price, otherwise you have to pay full retail as you have not finished your commitment to the contract for the last discounted phone you received.

Yep. This is my first Verizon phone so I did not have a lot of options. I had a work supplied phone since the 90's. We get a discount because my wife works for a company that used to be part of Verizon--we still get employee discounts. But we still have the same contract rules. She just picked up a refurb BB curve to tide her over until her contract is up next spring.

They used to let you extend contracts a lot earlier from what I recall, but that was not in the $650 phone era.

Officially a member of the rooted club! Thank's a lot man! :D Now all I do is use a back up app (i use mybackup pro) back up all my data then flash a rom right? Which rom would you suggest?

p.s. even though this is from june, should i still follow these rules to flash a rom? just wanna make sure if these are still the current procedures. http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...91-how-some-root-terminology.html#post2812075 cause you said in a thread revolutionary comes with clockwork mod but rom manager says i dont have it so i wanna make sure if i should do what those instructions say.

Nope

If somebody makes a larger screen than the bolt that is non motorola I may check it out. I hope they come out with a small tablet phone.

The nexus has a larger screen and isn't moto

Does verizon have anything like the galaxy note (5.3" screen) on the horizon?

Samsung Galaxy Note will be the ultimate device. No longer will users carry a phone, tablet, camera, notepad, pen, paper and more — instead you’ll have the Galaxy Note. What Samsung has designed is a device with a 5.3″ Super AMOLED display with HD WXGA 1280

What Samsung has designed is a device with a 5.3″ Super AMOLED display with HD WXGA 1280×800 resolution, powered by a 1.4 Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and more. All this running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Running GB? Doesn't sound all that ultimate lol

There is alot to love about the TBolt, but the GNex has sooooo much more
of what I want I just can't resist. Since the Bolt has been great I am giving
it to the wife and using her upgrade for my new GNex. YIPEE!!!!

I totally already did this. Just waiting til the Nexus comes out and I hope it will be great, cuz I have no more upgrades left... Bleh.

Got my rezound yesterday, the big bitch now is that I lost all my progress in Angry Birds and am starting from scratch.

Battery seems a little better. I disconnected it at 4:30 this morning and 7 hours later I just broke 50% and it has been seing lots of its my new phone use today I expect things to be better once it is just another phone. :)

I was holding out for either the Razr or the GNex originally (D1 owner here). Then I thought, the process will be too long because I like to wait until a phone has been out for at least 3 months before buying it. On top of that, I pretty much scoffed at the idea of paying $300 for a phone, and 199 is my maximum. So, that means I need to wait even longer for a price drop.So last month, when I saw the TB was only $149.99 with an extended battery thrown in free, I had to jump on it. I had already been looking at the TB as a possible upgrade, even though the nerd in me really wanted to wait for "the next big thing", and I had also been playing with one that a friend of mine from work has. He, like many others, made the switch this past summer when VZW announced they were getting rid of unlimited data after *forgot the date*. Of course, after they had already burned up their upgrade and past the return window, the confusion was cleared and we found out that current unlimited users would get to keep unlimited data, even if they upgraded to a 4G phone. Anyway, I see no reason to upgrade, especially with having to pay the outlandish off-contract prices. I'm happy with my TB, and thanks to the dev community, I know I will get 4.0 on the bugger one way or another. Also, since I have a Xoom, it really diminishes the power and capabilities I need my phone to have nowadays.
