I really hope it's not true, y'all!

does anyone find it odd that quite a few people in this thread are more than willing to accept a rumor that has a date of 11/17 or 11/21 going strictly by word of mouth or an old screen grab or upcoming launches? yet these same people quickly discount the 12/8 leaks by saying the scree grabs look fake? just saying, just because its not what we all would like to happen, does not mean it is any less likely to be true than the 11/21 date. sit back and think rationally about what REAL evidence we have vs what we should have if it were releasing on 11/21, and i think we will all likely conclude that with little concrete evidence and only 2 days to go, 12/8 is a much more likely date than 11/21 at this point

To say Verizon is screwing the pooch on this release would be an insult to all previous pooch screws. Their lack of information is doing more damage to their reputation than if they were forthright. Not giving info when there is clearly as much interest in the tech community for a historically tech-orientated phone is a slap in our face plain and simple.

The whole bloat concept is interesting. IF, theoretically, the delay is because of BUA then it makes some sense. If the Exchange support is messed up, for example, then it certainly could be fixed OTA. The problem with BUA is it will be the first thing you run to transition to the phone. Personally, I couldN'T care less because I'm tech saavy enough to manage my own transition. IF a less saavy individual were to fail to transition their data over then that's an instant tech support incident and potential unhappy customer. Maybe a return. Makes sense they want that to work seamlessly.

In any case, with the delays (just because they are not announced does not mean they are not delays) I would be surprised if Verizon gets another Nexus. This does not look good for Google or Samsung by association. Before someone mentions the UK launch, it has been brought up that the average user doesn't follow this tech crap like we do so they would be unlikely to know about the UK launch. Why would Google do this to themselves again? A competent business would look at how this is being perceived and stay far away from this PR disaster. This is Google's latest baby.

My tip of the day: if you care very deeply about something, you COULD care less. It doesn't indicate you are indifferent. If you have no feelings whatsoever, you COULDN'T care less. The Brits laugh at we Americans for such a silly mistake.

Ok, first of all, i have no idea what I am talking about. I am gonna type this as I think of it to get it out of my head and in "print". This is purely a mind dump. I started to not hit the submit button, but what the hell. I am no crazier than anyone else.

If the Nex is delayed, who is hurt?

Verizon? No. If they can delay a sure Nex sale to next year, that helps next years numbers. And they sell more current inventory. Truthfully, they probably have no inventory. They probably dont pay the hardware companies till the units sell. It's done all the time in all channels. They want the contracts. They dont make much, if any, on the subsidized phones anyway.

Samsung? No. They will get these sure sales eventually anyway. IF they still own the verizon inventory of current phones, they benefit by verizon sell more of their current phones. They sell more phones around the world than in the US anyway, so, just another piece of profit in the pie.

Google? No. They have their search engine and optimizations on the vast majority of verizons current inventory anyway. They benefit by seeding out older os's while ICS is introduced and refined with the early adopters that are gonna BUY SOMETHING, now or later. Plus, they want Moto to do well for obvious reasons. That would include the current inventory of premium razor, introductory priced Bionic, world phone D3, etc. Every customer that buys an "older" phone now, is probably a customer for newer phones and os's in a year or two. Gonna go to ATT or TMO or Iphone? Thats ok, google services are available over there too.

We are conditioned to accept "older" technology that is not cutting edge, simply because it is better than what we had before. This is true in ALL products, worldwide. For example, Europe and most of the rest of the world can buy MUCH more innovative motorcycles than the same companies offer in the US. They might dole out 1 cool motos to us riders for every 10 they offer to the rest of the world. Why? We are sheep.

As you know, LTE as it's being sold to us is not true LTE and slower than is available elsewhere or possible here. Why should they give us all the speed possible all at once, when they can dole it out to us a little at a time and have reasons to charge more later for even faster speed and more for the next crop of new phones to take advantage of it. Yes, I can be conspiratorial.

Moto? They are good to go. Who made Nex one? HTC? Who is making the second? Sammy? Who will make the third Nexus equipped with with the then new and next step in technology? LG? Pantech? Nokia? LOL I wonder who? Who is Moto tied to now?

So, NONE of the players are harmed if this phone is delayed. I mean, in the US, where you gonna go? You'll be back.

So, as "early adopters" we can pitch our fits about this or that, but most folks are very happy with a D3, Bionic, Rezound or the flagship Razor. Or even an iphone. Have you checked their market share lately?

Honestly, none of the management of the players give one rats damn what we think.

Until the Labor day 2.3.3 update on my D2, it was flawless and did everything I do perfectly. If not for it going to hell, I would be perfectly happy till I dropped it from a ladder again and shattered it.

So, I think I will just figure out how to sbf it back to 2.2, where it worked perfectly, use as much unlimited data as I can, help clog up 3g for the iphone users, and enjoy keeping this $300 in my pocket as long as I can. In the meantime, I can watch what happens and decide what and when to buy the next one.

I gotta have a phone. Mobile data has changed my life for the better. I am not giving up my unlimited data. If I have to use verizon, I will. The others are no better.

Or, I might buy this phone as soon as it comes out!

The problem with Verizon regarding this launch isn't false information. It's *no* information. If Verizon had been more transparent regarding their plans for this launch, the false information would never have had the chance to take root. By keeping us in the dark, they are creating the conditions that make us susceptible to just about every rumor that pops up.

Agreed. A little info goes a long way.

I wish they provided some sort of "guidance" as well, but I bet they haven't published any sort of date, for fear of missing said date and causing all the blowback that we're seeing here.

Just to make sure, with the $35 restocking, the rent-a-razr/rezound does cause them to lose money right?

not necessarily. we dont know the wholesale cost they pay to samsung to purchase them, so even at subsidized pricing, after the $35 fee they may still be in profit, may be even, or may be losing, no way to really know without knowing the wholesale cost to them per unit
