So I noticed that under Storage there are 3 sections - Application storage, Internal storage, and SD card. Then there is the final option at the bottom for Windows Media Sync.

Looking over these sections, I realized that even after downloading multiple applications that are quite large (20MB-50MB each) this has not even touched the amount of storage space on my SD card. This lead me to believe that my applications, downloads, etc. are not actually being stored on the SD card (shows 14.80/14.81GB available).

When you go to Manage Applications and check an application, some allow you to send it to the Media Storage on the phone. However, I thought this meant it was being stored on the SD card, but it's not.

Does anyone happen to know how to set the phone to store applications, downloads, etc. to the SD card instead of the internal media storage?

I believe that the Media Area is storage area (part of the 16G internal memory) meant for music, video, etc. I have not discovered an option to move most of my downloaded apps to my SD card. My K9 Mail app has a setting to store messages on the phone or the SD card. But all of the other apps only have choices for phone, or phone/media area. As there is plenty of built-in memory, it would be a plus to move any app that you can to the media area, in order to leave room for apps that can only stay on the phone in the Application area.

This must be a unique feature of Motorola and/or the Electrify, as it was not the case for my Samsung Mesmerize. I do not download movies and music to know if you can get that stuff to the SD card or not. Strange. Gallery photos are stored on the SD card.

Maybe a 3rd party app is necessary to get more stored on the SD card, like Apps2SD??

I found this website....Does it help?
MOTODEV > Documentation & Tools > Android Technical Library > Motorola "External" Storage API
