Love the phone, hate the camera

This phone would be perfect if the camera was better. The battery life for me has been pretty good, the phone is very fast, and the call quality is awesome.

The camera is subpar, in the right conditions the pics come out great. In low light or inside the pictures all seem to be soft. The flash is a bit week as well.

I agree! Quite disappointed with the camera on the Razr. I really have to focus and hold still to make sure I get a nice pic. in lighting other than outdoor in full daylight, my photos are coming out pretty bad. eek

Agreed....My 1st unit took better pics then the one I have now.

I even tried using a 3d party I had used for years on my Moment (camera magic) and it failed miserably. I could zoom in on the picture but when checking the gallery, the picture wasn't zoomed. So the app is not working with the camera. Either that or I'm an idiot and did something wrong.

I do not seem to mind the Razr camera. I get excellent photos inside and outside. I use Camera 360 or Camera FX, depending on the shooting situation. Attached is a photo I shot inside with low light, using Camera 360 with enhanced setting, flash on.

Seems to be a trend, with some units having better results with taking pics.

Boy, aint that the truth! I tried a Razr at BB and the pix were outstanding from a sharpness & color standpoint...really impressive. Even enlarging the picture, the detail remained very sharp. Then I was playing with one at a VZW store and the camera was significantly less sharp.

I always check to make sure there aren't any fingerprints on the lens, but there really seems to be a tremendous variation in the quality of the cameras from one Razr to another. I can't imagine what it is or why.

Looks like you have one just like the one at BB I played with. What a shame that they can't maintain QC from one unit to the next.

I tested one at Costco and camera was definitely faster than previous Motos and seems to have ability to take sharp photos. However, it required fairly steady hand holding for good photos. Otherwise, it came out blurry. I didn't mess with camera setting and wonder if Razr has image stabilization. Both AF and image stabilization is important for taking sharp photos.

I think HTC, Samsung have better QC in manufacturing than Moto.

Might agree with you on HTC, but Samsung is just horrible. I've had nothing but issues with every Sammy I've owned, the last one being the Charge...a nightmare.

Well, Charge is not really good representative of what Sammy can do for the high end phone. SGSII, it is. If quality is not there, it can't be best selling android phone worldwide. Though HTC has consistent quality, I don't like their practice of putting too small battery for size and resource hogging Sense UI often resulting in short battery life and sluggish performance.
