Hey guys, just checking in. I had a phone call with my sister a few minutes ago, and I didn't mention the Nexus because I know she's sick of talking about it, but she told me near the end of the conversation that one of the higher ups was going to buy a Nexus for his dad on his birthday.

The dad in question happens to have a birthday on December 12.

Doesn't tell us much, I know, but maybe it hints towards December 8,which is seemingly more and more likely.

Holy crap, I've missed a lot tonight. I was experiencing "life" it seems.

1st - Drinking Yuengling tonight. Pre-layoff pitcher after work, then helped a friend move into his new house around the corner from mine and had another there. Feeling...tired... and relaxed... first time all week.

2nd - Be serious, how many of you knew that it was called "A New Hope" before Episode 1 was released? I always referred to the first one as just "Star Wars" and that's how it will forever live to me.

C. - So, we're thinking the 8th is fo-real? Maybe a pre-order, but, leaning toward quiet launch?

4th - Tomorrow has been "confirmed" (as much as this phone) as layoff day. if I'm posting around 10 am tomorrow, it's not good and I'll be waiting for a great deal on Amazon to get my Nex. If I make it through until 5, I'm all in for full price (err...well...full subsidized price) release day Ice Cream Sammich.

5th - If you were a dog... would you grab toys off of the counter, in their packaging during the day, then rip the packaging off in your daddy's bed, then leave said toy and destroyed packaging there and pretend like it never happened and hope he didn't notice? Just curious. I think I would do exactly that if I were a dog, so, all you can do is laugh when it happens.

F. - Good night Nexi-ricans. Hoping for only good news tomorrow and to be employed when the sun goes down.

1) Beer and pizza is the standard payment method for helping someone move.

2) I knew "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" was it's name, and as a kid I was baffled as to why the first Star Wars movie was episode 4 and not 1.

C) We are hoping/believing the 8th is the real deal, not sure yet if it is pre-order day, launch day or soft launch day.

4th) Good luck man, I've been quite a few layoff days in the last 2+ years. It's not fun for anyone, those that get let go and those left behind. I always felt a bit sad for being glad that I made it thru the day with my job still intact.

5th) Hells yeah I'd be ripping thru packages left and right if I were a dog. (softball)

Pretty sure VZW could get their own special version quite easy. Could easily be basically same device at 1.5 instead of 1.4 and have LTE just for Verizon.

Thoroughly enjoyed the thread tonight - definitely hoping with the rest that the 8th is indeed the date and we get confirmation soon. Although, I think at this point I'm not coming here for Nexus information, it's pretty much all out there already. I've realized (much to the GF's chagrin as I keep CMND-R-ing) that I'm here for the community, to wait it out with all of you. The optimism, tonight especially, has been contagious.

As for the beer, I bailed on the Black & Brew and switched to Old Fezziwig Ale - going through the Sam Adams Winter Pack someone gave me, and I'm not all that impressed.

Today I picked up a Rezound to hold me over until the Nexus is released, and I was talking to a worker who claimed to have used it and he told me that it contained more bloatware than just Backup Assistant and My Verizon. Unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to tell me what they were. Verizon is terrible.

I honestly think the anger over the name is way overblown, its supposed to resemble the word cyborg when you say it. It's to go along with the whole droid theme and keep the X from the xooom, its pronounced like cyboard which I don't have a big issue with at all. Think of how you pronounce the word xylophone, just with -board instead of -lophone.
